I thought it might be quite interesting if the /g/ mod were to post and sticky a new programming task every day for the programmers on the board to complete. Much like /sci/ use to have a daily Putnam challenge stickied. It seemed to work out quite well there.
Can we have board specific banners? As it stands right now, the banners are very anime related at the moment and I think it would be cool if that changed depending on what board you visited.Kind of as a way of showing the board's subculture and also as a nice little project for the 4chan community. Would be cool to visit /fit/ and squat/ oats/ zyzz related banners everywhere. Or /v/ and a bunch of vidya meme-related banners. Kinda a small detail but I am pretty sure a lot of people would appreciate this.
>>4803I understand blocking ads but why the banners? Thats just silly.
>>1431That's what he was saying.
>>4821They don't mesh well with some userstyles.
As cool as an idea I think this is, I really don't think certain boards could handle it. /v/ comes to mind instantly. Here's why:I think most of the banners submitted for /v/ would be stuff like Green&Purple, Galo Sengen, 4AM stu, That feel, etc. When you have these sort of things as official banners, you're fueling the idea that this kind of stuff is okay on /v/. This all comes back to "BUT IT'S /v/ CULTURE"!
>>1331It was pretty funny how we gave him the original zip when he made the thread and nobody had an archive of the quality controlled ones ready to go.
Moot can you do something about the Interracial porn and cuckold spam on /pol/ please.
>>4774Nobody ever suggests that until someone starts spamming the cuck porn.
fuck you stormfront scum
Just make /pol/ SFW already.Nobody comes to /pol/ for the fucking porn.
>>4914Well a lot of news stories have "gore" in them.
>>4858I'm related to jews you stupid asshole.
Can there be an official mod/moot response on whether or not this kind of stuff is OK or not?I live in perpetual fear of these threads being deleted because mods don't like them, and myself banned. In case someone doesn't already know, it's an AI vs AI game streamed over the Internet with live commentators, spectators. Each soccer team is made up of players named/dressed up in the flavor of a certain board. I think this is one of the most fun things to come out of 4chan in recent memory, but if it's not OK, then I'll have to stop liking fun. For the sake of rules.
>>3865Seems a bit early for the /q/ users to form a board. Wait a few months for things to calm down and people to actually settle here. Right now it seems a bit too much of "Our board/mod/janitor sucks".The system can't integrate new teams right now either. The Babby Cup has 32 teams and any new entries would require that one of them is removed.
Just for the record, I think Cup is a cool idea. But I wish people could just fucking constrain themselves to one goddamn board for it. Saying "/a/ has a team so it's /a/ related" or "/tg/ has a team so it's /tg/ related" is bullshit, just like /co/ going to another board and asking them what kind of cartoons they like. People are free to visit other boards if they have interests that span multiple board topics; even if something originates with 4chan users, it should still be considered "spam" if it's getting posted multiple times a day across the entire site on boards that it's not related to.
>>4263That's pretty much why we have the General thread (>>/vg/11152726) where you can not only discuss the general cup but also specific teams.Threads should only be made on other boards for special occasions like official matches or major team changes.
>>3263Nah, they don't usually get deleted too much
>>4742It was mainly one day when a janitor deleted several attempts to make a new thread.
Would it be possible to add a Blinkenworld map like the ones in Krautchan or Ylilauta to /int/?Pic related
Bad ideaflags took already part of "Anonymous" frrom that board
Hi Moot and co. Is there any way to avoid https. I keep trying by removing the "s" and always seem to end up back in https mode after not long.>Be ruralfag on dialup>Painfully slowIt wasn't that bad before https all the time.>How to escape https???Pick totally related and all OC bar the modem pic.
>>4832Also I run squid to try and help speed thinks up some. I got banned once with the reason "proxy". Does cloudflare make that type of ban redundant? I'm hoping so.

So that's what /q/ is.It's like 4chan within a 4chan
I thought there would be way more gossiping about moot's sex life.
In certain boards there are special things you can do.For example: Spoilers in /tv/ and LaTex in /sci/Why are these things not on every board? Could they be? thoughts?
I think spoilers should be site wide, but a lot of the other board-specific features are exclusive because they are only really needed on said board, and would probably be abused on others. You don't really need dice rolling outside of /tg/ or code tags outside of /g/.
>mfw dice get threads
LaTex in /sci/ is heavily abusable. It's not as bad now since there seems to be heavier moderation but it would completely ruin threads in the past.
I think spoilers should only be on boards that actually can use them. eg. >>>/co/ >>>/tv/ >>>/v/The fact that >>>/r9k/ has spoilers is really pointless, since there is nothing to spoil about beta stories. If you made spoilers site-wide there would be CONSTANT shitposting. Imagine if >>>/b/ got spoilers.Just think about that for a second. Exactly.
>>4744Meh, I doubt that. I don't really care about this but I wouldn't mind seeing spoilers on other boards.
A lot of folks only browse one or two boards, and never explore to see what other boards are about. This tends to make places stuffy and insular.Often the only times they visit a new board is when they see an eye catching image in the "Recent Images" field on the 4chan home page. Of course, not many users even go there, as they may have their 'home' boards bookmarked. If the 'Recent Images', 'Latest Posts' and 'Popular Threads' boxes from the home page were somehow incorporated into the front page of each board, it might encourage more mixing between the boards, and allow some of the neglected special interest boards to get new posters that they otherwise would never get.See pic for quick and dirty MSPaint mock-up.
>>4371I think it would reduce the off-topic posting, rather than increase it. I mean, about half the people that post on the site thing /b/ = 4chan. Another 40% think /v/ & /a/ = 4chan. They don't even know that there are other boards to post their off-topic threads on.Encouraging boards to mix might also help with inspiring OC.
There's a front page. And I don't want shit to be pushed into my face, no matter how "good" it might be for site.
I really like this idea, but I think deciding on the right format is absolutely key. It might be a better suggestion for the add on, since it would give the users the ability to enable/disable at will.
There's a frontpage, list of the boards at the top of the page, list of the boards when you're at the bottom of the page, etc. I don't think it can get any clearer. Also, kind of unrelated but I don't think I've visited the front page of 4chan in years. I imagine most people have their boards of choice on their tabs that they can just click on to get to.
This is a terrible idea? I don't want /b/tards coming to /lit/.
Does /lit/ currently have a janitor? If so, would it be possible to get one or two more?Right now, we're really vulnerable to spam and 'raids' (that are usually just one or two people spamming threads). It's not a constant problem, but a bit more janitorial attention could really help us out at times. Sometimes /lit/ is just unusable because people are posting off-topic, or more often, /pol/ shit, and the board just gets flooded with it so easily, since we're a rather slow board with a smallish userbase.
Despite how slow posting is on /lit/, it probably needs as many janitors as more popular boards. More than any other board, people who go to /lit/ are more likely to go outside and do things, janitors included. So yes, we do need more of them.
What if there was a way to create polls in threads? Not for serious stuff, because that would invite spamming, but just for fun.
Allow me to be the first person in this thread to voice support for this idea.
mite b cool
Where 4chans banned proxy list stopped people for voting for something a hundred times.Would be a lot nicer than that other poll site that get proxy spammed all the time
We don't need such thing in an ANONYMOUS IMAGE BOARD.If you really want to pool people use Google statistics or something.
>>4766>Needing anythingYou're missing the point.
It's pretty easy to see that he waifu and creepy pedophilia are problems on /tv/, but if they're removed it would just become a Games of Throne board or BrBa, etc. Flavor of the month TV show board. Not to mention it would become painfully slow. How to solve this problem?>I made this topic earlier but 4chanX ate it
>>4697So, the thread you posted, where the OP says:>i know waifu threads are being deleted, and i applaud you sir.>i applaud you a thousand times and over 9000 internets to you sir.>delete this thread, it has no purpose other than my praise.>and encouragement.>burn them all = This is an on-topic thread about film or TV that is being overrun by waifuists? Seems to me it's a waifu thread, since it's an anon posting about how waifus will soon be a banned topic (which isn't nearly set in stone).
Pedo shit isn't even that big of a problem. It's more just the retarded cowadoody edgy as fuck 16 year olds who shit up the board now. That's why I don't care about /cel/ anymore. Even if moot made it /tv/ would still be shit. This is coming from someone who used to have /tv/ as his main board as recently as 2010. If anything he should maybe make a /fil/ board for just film discussion. But even that sounds like a bad idea.I really don't know what to do to fix /tv/. It seems like a hopeless case.
>>4697That's pretty good example. I wish we could have more great on-topic thread like that or this one >>>/tv/24948684
>>4741>implying it's not gonna be made into a movieXDXD
>>4688>then what the fuck are you doing on /tv/ if you do not care about the art of filmmaking or television.I can appreciate art, I'm not passionate enough to have a discussion about it. I'm not passionate enough to remember the intricate details of an unremarkable 3 year old film that I saw zero or one times.Hey, people have different interests. Whadyaknow....
Does anyone else think maybe there should be a board specifically for doubles/gets and "tfw threads"? After Moot removed dubs, people still shit up boards with "lel 5 get!" and other stupid shit. I swear if I ever see another ">tfw no gf" thread, someone's shit is getting slapped. So what do y'all think? It would be specifically for gets and feel threads.
>>4768the problem would be like /r9k/you have a board for it, but others decide to go on other boards and post their crap on it. They never specifically go to their threads because it's more interesting to bring their crap to other boards.what moot needs to do is get more janitors who monitor each board and do their damn job. Abide by the rules and make sure it's specific to the board like taking out the relationship beta stories out of /fit/ and >tfw no gf threads. Just delete them instantly.
More janitors/mods are needed to delete that crap. A board for it would be completely retarded.Since more janitors are on the way, I think the problem will be taken care of soon enough. We can't just make a board for shitposting and expect it to all magically go there. That's just dumb.
/r9k/ is the official feel board now.4chan as a whole obviously isn't mature enough to have repeating postnumbers come back.
We need dubs in /v/ and /b/I makes little not to have them in /v/ and it makes ZERO FUCKING SENSE not to have them in /b/REMEMBER: the more you're holding them the longer it will haunt everyone and every shit threads are filled with "singles get" anyway
Like most things, dubs got ruined by summerfags who used it indiscriminately; originally dubs was used to derail bad threads. After summer goes by I would love to see dubs reinstated (particularly on /v/).
Why did you get rid of Dubs? There didn't seem to be anything wrong with them.
Pointless constant spamming all over the front page with absolutely no positive outcomes. Dubs were even meaningless since everyone and their mother had wizardget.
They're spam.
There are still boards with dubs, it's only the greatest offenders that had theirs removed.
What would be the benefit to bringing them back, vs the cons?
Because it was used as a tool for shitposting and derailing threads.
