Can there be an official mod/moot response on whether or not this kind of stuff is OK or not?I live in perpetual fear of these threads being deleted because mods don't like them, and myself banned. In case someone doesn't already know, it's an AI vs AI game streamed over the Internet with live commentators, spectators. Each soccer team is made up of players named/dressed up in the flavor of a certain board. I think this is one of the most fun things to come out of 4chan in recent memory, but if it's not OK, then I'll have to stop liking fun. For the sake of rules.
last bump for real this time.
It's pretty much part of 4chan's culture by now, and there were lots of stickies about it on /sp/ during the summer cup, so I honestly can't see how it would not be OK.Banning it would be almost the same thing as banning OC.
I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed. Threads on /vg/ probably get deleted because let's be honest, sometimes they have lots of off-topic shit. Also, /q/ team when?
>>3215Probably me being paranoid in the wake of /tg/'s nazimod who would delete these kinds of threads on sight.http://1d4chan.org/wiki//tg/_%284chan_World_Cup_team%29>The mods apparently hate this creation with a relentless fury and will delete these threads whenever they see them.
>>3215Banning summer cup would be entirely different from banning OC. There is simply no comparison to be made here.
>>3292I didn't see that many 4chan cup threads getting deleted on /tg/. The only board where the janitors were aggressively hostile towards it was /int/ and even they got a sticky when they reached the final.
>>3615That's because /tg/'s moderator and/or janitor finally left. None of the 4chan cup threads were deleted during these summer games. That's not the point, though, the point is an official "yes/no" on this. The stickies make it unofficial, I guess. So maybe there isn't a need for an official word?
I am curious as well
I'm pretty sure the mods allow all of this.I haven't seen a board where you could get banned for posting cup threads
>>3802>>3802Speaking of which, would the mods allow discussion of a possible /q/ team on the board?Like, a whole thread devoted to discussing possible members, logo, kits, formation and all that.
>>3865Seems a bit early for the /q/ users to form a board. Wait a few months for things to calm down and people to actually settle here. Right now it seems a bit too much of "Our board/mod/janitor sucks".The system can't integrate new teams right now either. The Babby Cup has 32 teams and any new entries would require that one of them is removed.
Just for the record, I think Cup is a cool idea. But I wish people could just fucking constrain themselves to one goddamn board for it. Saying "/a/ has a team so it's /a/ related" or "/tg/ has a team so it's /tg/ related" is bullshit, just like /co/ going to another board and asking them what kind of cartoons they like. People are free to visit other boards if they have interests that span multiple board topics; even if something originates with 4chan users, it should still be considered "spam" if it's getting posted multiple times a day across the entire site on boards that it's not related to.
>>4263That's pretty much why we have the General thread (>>/vg/11152726) where you can not only discuss the general cup but also specific teams.Threads should only be made on other boards for special occasions like official matches or major team changes.
>>3263Nah, they don't usually get deleted too much
>>4742It was mainly one day when a janitor deleted several attempts to make a new thread.
