Hey moot, make a history page, or mini encyclopedia.

Not any sort of thing to prop 4chan up, just something to clear out the bullshit so everybody knows where the site has been. Use matter of fact writing, like "/v/ was made because /b/ didn't want all the video games pushing lolcats and stuff off the front page". Steer clear anything that looks like you're trying to say 4chan is amazing.

Just so everyone gets an idea of how the site formed. Nowadays, you say something like "anonymous culture" and almost everyone who reads your posts thinks Guy Fawkes. That's not what it means. And Guy Fawkes wasn't what people would spring to until /b/tards, most of them who had not been browsing the site for very long, started causing a scene. You would go over how anonymous culture formed in the first place, and why. Stuff like how 2chan's creator said he used anonymous posting because "you get to the truth much faster with anonymous posting". Maybe cover a little bit about where Guy Fawkes bullshit came from, too, to explain the confusion.

The site has a lot of misconceptions floating around. You get a couple of people making guesses about things in one thread and they start convincing each other that they've got it right, then it snowballs. There should be a reference on 4chan that doesn't end up as retarded as ED.

Done!

2008-2010, which are missing, can be gleaned from the News archive and Statue pages.

This is mostly ED garbage.

>July 12 - 4chan (along with Encyclopedia Dramatica, YTMND, GNAA, Bantown, and others) storm Habbo Hotel, a virtual online role playing game where, among other things, people pay real-life money for online money (which is pretty stupid when you think about it). Thousands of "nigras" (black characters with afros wearing business suits, the official raid costume) filled nearly every room on the site, especially the Pool Deck, during which the pool was blocked for hours because the pool had AIDS. The sheer number of Anonymous was so great that the Habbo mods could not ban the nigras faster than the accounts were being created, resulting in the mods having no choice but to reset their server, after which the raid continued for a few more hours on Habbo servers in other countries, particularly the German Habbo Hotel (where the nigras would form in swastika patterns). The Habbo raid is often considered /b/'s best and spawned the "Nigra" meme and the "Pool's closed" meme. The word "AIDS" was later wordfiltered on Habbo as a result of the raid.

Are you saying that information is false?

If you have different information, it's a wiki. Edit it!
>>
>>283681

No, no wiki. The fact that that is a wiki is a big part of the problem. Just anybody can ruin it, and will.

This would be a couple of paragraphs per subject, with about twenty subjects or so. It would be to explain to people why things are like they are. That's a specific purpose.

Shit, the page you linked isn't even relevant to 4chan, it's only relevant to /b/.

Maybe some day.

Well, to be fair, /b/ is where most of 4chan's history came from. It was the first board and is the largest.

If not a wiki, then what? Do you really expect moot to remember every detail of everything that has happened here in the last 10 years?

I barely remember which pants I wore yesterday ...

This would be something you could finish reading in ten to fifteen minutes.

It's not supposed to be a wiki because it has no reason to be a wiki, and being a wiki introduces a bunch of shit into what is supposed to be clear, simple clarification.
