can anyone tell me what the fuck this means?

This is not the first time it has happened and no I didn't post in a thread where people were circle jerking
>>
You see Timmy, a circlejerk is when a group of males gather around and form a "circle." Once that is complete, they drop trou and begin to masturbate.
>>
>>281381 (OP)
It means you posted in a thread where conversations between replies lasted more than three posts, or any of them replied to more than one person in the same post. This qualifies it as a "circlejerk" according to what I'm seeing lately.
>>
>>281394
how is that ban worthy?
>>
>>281395
That's not what 4chan is about, apparently. Haven't you seen all the fuss the past few days about that?
Evidently 4chan is not for having conversations.
>>
>>281396
no I haven't, I have been banned and when I can't post I don't stick around because I get mad that I can't post
>>
Any type of discussion that exists only to make everyone feel good about one another.

An example would be tripfags talking about each other's days in a board that doesn't call for it (very common in /co/).

NOT an example: discussing a videogame with like-minded individuals (because /v/ seems to believe every thread on /vg/ is a "circlejerk")
>>
>>281396
Conversations are fine but when it degenerates into the same thread being posted 24/7, avatar/tripfagging and general attentionwhoring it becomes a problem.
>>
>>281409
Then why aren't "roll" threads a higher priority for the mods right now than CP, when the tripfag things are?
>>
>>281410
Avatar/trip/ponyfag circlejerk threads get deleted, all the users get banned, and then they immediately ban evade and start the thread up again. It's not that nothing is being done about them, it's just that there's not much you can do to keep them away permanently.

I do know mods aren't slacking on the CP issue. There was some images posted on a thread on /b/, thread was gone not 2-3 minutes later.
>>
>>281417
My point was that if you're going to use "the same shit being posted 24/7", it'd be quicker to just ban every IP on the planet from /b/.
>>
>>281407
This is a pretty good read about the subject if you've got a few minutes to spare. It's about pony circlejerks, but really it's applicable across the board.

Forgot link.
>>
>>281410
I don't know because I'm not a mod. Personally I think roll threads are just as cancerous and could pretty much be eradicated if we had the robot script on /b/ for a week because a roll thread basically consists of ~350 replies all saying 'roll', 'rollin' etc.
>>
>>281422
It's a good idea, but it won't happen. From looking at IDs in the first one of those threads that I found on /b/, there's a substantial number of people who somehow find doing that shit entertaining.
And it seems these days official policy is decided by which group can overflow moot's email inbox with the most whiny demands that only what THEY like should be allowed, so it won't change.
>>
>>281427
why does it matter what people want to do on /b/? just hide the thread and move on
>>
>>281433
I do, but I'm still hiding more threads than not.
Meanwhile it's evidently OK to bitch and whine and make personal army request threads declaring "war" on people using avatars, and noone tells THEM to just ignore and scroll past.
>>
>>281434
well I think that just might your problem for browsing /b/ and expecting a decent experience
>>
>>281440
You're right, it is pretty stupid of me to go to it expecting to not see the exact same shit no matter what time of day or what day of the week.
>>
>>281442
yeah, welcome to /b/ not sure where you have been
>>
>>281443
I went and hid on the other boards for a few months, hoping things might have improved. I don't know what I was thinking.
To be honest the first time I went back I actually did a full browser cache clear and everything just to make sure I wasn't still seeing the exact same page as the previous visit.
>>
>>281440
Believe it or not, there actually are the occasional 'good' threads if you're prepared to wade through all the shit but they get drowned out due to the incredible amounts of shitposting and the speed of /b/.
>>
Here is a concept... Just a thought...

Allow thread ratings. If it is only two people circle-jerking... then two votes won't keep the thread alive on the top. It will still exist, as long as they are actively posting back and forth, but like on page 100+, eg, can't be found but those posting can still refresh to see it.

Page votes just have to have a timestamp, and every minute the votes from 5min-ago drop-off... so unless people keep voting (new people)... the thread naturally dies. (Perfect for ROLL threads too. However, I believe a roll-script would eliminate posting crap, and bumping easily. Just have an option to "ROLL or POST" on threads that OP set as a roll-thread. The ROLL does not post, it rolls a number for that cookie + post, and adds it to an uneditable box above the POST area. Then, IF they post, it simply gets added to the top of the post as a "ROLL: xxx"... with the obvious posted comment.)

This board could be so much more, with little effort, but it seems to lack the knowledge needed to get things done. Seems like so much time is spent moderating things that just don't actually need moderation, and simple tools could easily moderate and prevent.

Like you are waiting for tools to be invented, not just coding them yourselves.
>>
>>281447
That would be way too easy to "game" without forcing it to be based on a persistent login (as if it was IP based you could proxy-bot to vote your stupid "69 becomes a mod" shit to the top), and gets dangerously close to the dreaded Reddit.
>>
>>281446
and they get drown-out because the page-links are actually useless, showing the same thread over and over as it flips through virtual slots... depends which "second" you click page X... could see the first post on page 1,2,3,4,5,6,12,18... well, you see the same 12 on all pages some times...

That is called poor unbuffered or cached sorting... (poor code)...

When I go to any PAGE, at any time... each successive page should be the sorted posts from that initial first time I viewed the main group page. Unless I click REFRESH, then it gets the most present full sort-list ID of pages. So going from 1 to 20 shows the 1-20 from that time, before I hit refresh... unles the refresh timer has ended. So I NEVER see a duplicate post in those travels.

Right now, it is just pure luck if you survive, thus why there is so much crap... the good stuff just can't be found in the lists, it is never shown because of the way pages work.
>>
>>281448
IP would not matter, it would be cookie... but I digress... you could dump cookies....

But who the fuck actually cares... you worried about cheaters or gay game rolls? They are all cheaters, rerolling.

If you want to keep it random... then don't show rolls until the post, but don't display/record it as a post... (Only YOU see it. Until you post.) That is the same as what I just said.

You avoid all the loosers posting ROLL, now they have thier roll and some valid post, or no post at all. (Except the thread does not get fake-bumps)
>>
>>281452
The only thing I want to happen to "rolls" is for them to fuck off entirely. They add NOTHING to the site, none of them ever actually deliver except those "RISK" style ones that are flaring up again lately, and they're just massive wastes of time.
>>
>>281407
Every thread on /vg/ IS a circle-jerk, anon. It's no use denying what everyone can clearly see.
