Why are pony images against the rules outside of /mlp/?

Other reaction images aren't banned like this. Anime images are posted on every board, Kornheiser images aren't restricted to /sp/. So why are ponies "special"?
>>
Look for the archive of /q/.

There are about 1000 threads about this subject.
>>
>>155515
because back in 2010 the autistic manchildren fandom shoved this shit in everyones face with 100% shit posting
>>
>I'm so new, I'm going to purposely shitpost and break the rules
>>
It's not the cartoon equines that are the issue. It's the fact that they're spammed to hell and back across unrelated discussions and boards for the sole purpose of irritating non-bronies. And it needs to stop. Seriously, I was neutral with regards to MLP, but as time went on they began to irritate me.
>>

>asking a legitimate question
>shitposting
>>
>>155545
In what way is your question legitimate?

155,550 posts on /q/ and 125,000 of them talk about ponies, pony related materials, and answer your exact damn question.

The ONLY reason you asked it again was to be able to post a pic of Pinkie Pie in the hopes of causing a buttmad shitstorm.

You already know the answer to your question and if you don't, LURK MOAR!

Hence, shitpost.
>>
Anime is a medium, of which there are several boards for. MLP is one really annoying thing. /mlp/ is a quarantine.
>>
It's mainly because of the shitstorm and nuisance they bring, even if they're only and image. If you want people to tolerate the fanbase more, get rid of the fanatics and trolls, especially on /b/. If you succeed in that, MLP hatred will die down considerably.
>>
Why aren't pokemon images banned outside /vp/?
>>
zero/10.
>>
Because people can't handle seeing colorful ponies.
>>
>>155799
Why does /vp/ exist in the first place?
>>
>>155852
/v/ being over run by pokemon threads one fateful summer
another sort of thing like how mlp got made to stick to one general but didnt
>>
>>155852
Because the pokefags attacked /po/

My Little Pony has always been a poor fit for 4chan, and moot doesn't need a reason to ban them. But If I were to guess at what his reasons are, then I'd say it's the fact that the 4chan community as a whole doesn't really like ponies.

They don't belong here.
>>
>>155870
Were they trying to level up?
>>
>>155885
>They don't belong here.
>posts pony outside of /mlp/
>>
The problem is that, outside /mlp/, pony images are almost invariably used to troll. Either it's an autistic brony who feels like he has to add ponies to everything while acting smug as hell about it or it's someone deliberately trying to provoke other users into launching a shitstorm over said bronies. It'll probably settle down in five years or so.

Of course, if you're a normal person who just wants to discuss the show, then you have an entire board to yourself for that purpose. So there's no point in posting outside /mlp/ for that reason.
>>
>>155885

>don't belong here
>fandom was born from 4chan
>implying this isn't its home
>>
>>155912
>implying origin matters
>>
>the majority of 4chan doesn't like MLP

True, but a lot of them do.

Keep in mind, /mlp/ easily in the top 3 fastest growing new boards in 4chan history.

It's currently had over 4 million posts, and the only 2012 board more popular than it is /pol/.
>>
Because people on other boards went full autismal rage whenever they saw a pony and it derailed whatever thread it was in. People saw that and started using pony images to troll. moot said fuck it and told ponyfags to go to their own board the way a child who keeps fucking with his easily antagonized brother gets told to go to his room by his parents. We really brought it on ourselves. In an ideal world, it would still be allowed on /b/ and /co/ (/co/ is the natural place for it and /b/ should allow anything that isn't illegal or in violation of site rules), but we were all too autistic about it and got shipped off to a containment board because we couldn't be reasonable about it

What in the-what?

October 2010, we fucking livestreamed the first episode after Faust was blasted. We named Derpy, we invented the fucking term 'brony', we had a general up with constant OC made every day, and when it became too much we programmed a fucking system that tracked and deleted extra MLP generals. 4chan is where it all started, no matter how painful it is for Sethisto to admit it.

I agree that it gets seriously out of hand between seasons, but 4chan is the only real place a phenomenon like this could have started. Only 4chan is hipster enough to ironically watch a show about colorful horses and wind up loving it enough to wind up warranting a quarantine two years later.
>>
>>156042
Calling 4chan hipster sure won't make people take you seriously

Find a term that better suits a community that would watch a show for little girls to be 'ironic' that isn't hipster and I'll adapt. Is 'eccentric' nice enough for you?

Point is while le reddit and horsechan and Sethisto are the big faces nowadays, it still started here, whether most of us want to admit it or not.

LISTEN GUYS, I KNOW TAMEEM MADE SOME CHANGES TO THE DEVIL MAY CRY FRANCHISE, BUT C'MON, JUST BECAUSE CAPCOM AND INAFUNE MADE IT ORIGINALLY DOESN'T MATTER. ORIGINS DON'T MATTER.
Fuck you!
>>
>>156042
That's all history now. If moot ever decided to ban them from the website completely I think I think I would support the decision. If anything, just so that I don't have to hear about it anymore.
>>
>>156145
That belongs to /v/, so origin doesn't matter.
>>
It's a shitty fad from many of the shitty fads we've had

Maybe back in 2010, it could've been prevented if handled properly by simply ignoring it, but nobody did that and it evolved from a rage-inducing troll to a true autism cult.

So yeah, Pandora's box is open and will stay like that for a couple of years
>>
>>155534
>>155544
Yes and no...
I watched /co/ very closely during the whole pony thing and my understanding was that some people were bitching about ponies, because who doesn't bitch about threads they don't like to see on 4chan? And that alerted some trolls that ponies were the thing that /co/ hated, so trolls and dipshits would post pony images in other threads and the few people who couldn't stand it would start bitching and derail the thread, then later refer to it as a pony invasion or the idea of having ponies crammed down their throats.

This would lead to other people bitching about the idiots who couldn't stop whining about the ponyfags, and this sort of created a really nasty feedback look that led to a lot of trolls trolling trolls and raw nerve poking.

At the end of the day, moot made the call to just move ponies elsewhere, because it was easier to just contain the relatively small group of jackasses who thought posting ponies was funny. By comparison, unrustling the collective jimmies of 4chan users who were now conditioned to flip their shit at the sight of a small colorful horse was a Herculean task that wasn't worth the trouble.

This.

Also apparently they were spammed to hell and back in /b/. Which was apparently a big part of the reason for /mlp/ judging from what m00t said. Frankly I don't get it, last I checked /b/ was a board without rules; and I fail to see how mlp is any better or worse than amateur porn thread #425,535. If anything, ponies are being posted more and more on other boards since /mlp/'s creation simply out of spite since the /co/ side of the fanbase really got fucked with the transfer.
>>
Ponies being spammed, people whining, ponies then being largely contained to ONE thread, people still whining, /mlp/ is created, doesn't do much, people continue whining...
