Why are pony images against the rules outside of /mlp/?Other reaction images aren't banned like this. Anime images are posted on every board, Kornheiser images aren't restricted to /sp/. So why are ponies "special"?

It's not the cartoon equines that are the issue. It's the fact that they're spammed to hell and back across unrelated discussions and boards for the sole purpose of irritating non-bronies. And it needs to stop. Seriously, I was neutral with regards to MLP, but as time went on they began to irritate me.

Anime is a medium, of which there are several boards for. MLP is one really annoying thing. /mlp/ is a quarantine.
It's mainly because of the shitstorm and nuisance they bring, even if they're only and image. If you want people to tolerate the fanbase more, get rid of the fanatics and trolls, especially on /b/. If you succeed in that, MLP hatred will die down considerably.

My Little Pony has always been a poor fit for 4chan, and moot doesn't need a reason to ban them. But If I were to guess at what his reasons are, then I'd say it's the fact that the 4chan community as a whole doesn't really like ponies. They don't belong here.

The problem is that, outside /mlp/, pony images are almost invariably used to troll. Either it's an autistic brony who feels like he has to add ponies to everything while acting smug as hell about it or it's someone deliberately trying to provoke other users into launching a shitstorm over said bronies. It'll probably settle down in five years or so.Of course, if you're a normal person who just wants to discuss the show, then you have an entire board to yourself for that purpose. So there's no point in posting outside /mlp/ for that reason.

Because people on other boards went full autismal rage whenever they saw a pony and it derailed whatever thread it was in. People saw that and started using pony images to troll. moot said fuck it and told ponyfags to go to their own board the way a child who keeps fucking with his easily antagonized brother gets told to go to his room by his parents. We really brought it on ourselves. In an ideal world, it would still be allowed on /b/ and /co/ (/co/ is the natural place for it and /b/ should allow anything that isn't illegal or in violation of site rules), but we were all too autistic about it and got shipped off to a containment board because we couldn't be reasonable about it

It's a shitty fad from many of the shitty fads we've hadMaybe back in 2010, it could've been prevented if handled properly by simply ignoring it, but nobody did that and it evolved from a rage-inducing troll to a true autism cult.
