Can we have board specific banners? As it stands right now, the banners are very anime related at the moment and I think it would be cool if that changed depending on what board you visited.Kind of as a way of showing the board's subculture and also as a nice little project for the 4chan community. Would be cool to visit /fit/ and squat/ oats/ zyzz related banners everywhere. Or /v/ and a bunch of vidya meme-related banners. Kinda a small detail but I am pretty sure a lot of people would appreciate this.
Too much work for such a trivial matter.
>>1286Yeah, I agree. However, I think the anime banners /a/ made shit all over the ones /b/ did.Though I may be bias.
Wait, this is a good place to point this out:moot, you didn't fucking QC the banners at all. Have you seen some of them? They're garbage. As an /a/ regular I can say with certainty that certain banners won't be missed. You should get the duplicates, the mistimed ones, the blatantly bad ones, etc. out of the system.
>>1299Not really. I mean I don't know much about how to run a website, but this would a community wide project. I can guarantee you a lot of interest boards such as /mlp/, /fit/, /tg/, /co/ and /tv/ would jump at a chance to contribute banners. Boards that don't offer a variety or banners because they lack traffic could just have the preset generic banners already in this site.I know it feels trivial, but this would be a great way for the 4chan community and moot to, in a way, bond. Because there are so many subcultures in 4chan and this would be a small, but significant way of showing to moot that they are recognized.
I don't think board specific banners should be necessary. Board specific advertisements might be a good idea though because J-List ads are not going to appeal to everyone.
I thought there were a few board specific banners, just, you know, not very many. But yeah a more focused banner design would be nice. It's a small touch but one i'm sure would be appreciated. And like >>1331 said there are a lot of awful looking ones amongst the decent/good ones.
>>1303I thought some of them were good.
>>1286I think the good thing about anime related banners is it definitely ties into 4chan's past, which originated as an anime related website.
>>1331You mean you don't like having 4 different "Akarin doesn't exist" banners?
lol I have no banners on 4chan. I've blocked them all and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people have too.
>>1286There are board specific banners. I've seen many /co/-related ones, and at least one /tg/-related one (the paladin and the lich having a rap battle)
>>4803I understand blocking ads but why the banners? Thats just silly.
>>1431That's what he was saying.
>>4821They don't mesh well with some userstyles.
As cool as an idea I think this is, I really don't think certain boards could handle it. /v/ comes to mind instantly. Here's why:I think most of the banners submitted for /v/ would be stuff like Green&Purple, Galo Sengen, 4AM stu, That feel, etc. When you have these sort of things as official banners, you're fueling the idea that this kind of stuff is okay on /v/. This all comes back to "BUT IT'S /v/ CULTURE"!
>>1331It was pretty funny how we gave him the original zip when he made the thread and nobody had an archive of the quality controlled ones ready to go.
