I have an idea. How about this; /sp/ can be changed to /sp/ - Shitposting, a NSFW board, and /ath/ - Athletics can be the strictly sports board that is safe for work. /sp/ would be used as a containment board for all of the current shitposters who are leaving other boards to come to /sp/ since the moderation there is lax. Let them shitpost there. That board can do for the other boards what /soc/ did for /b/ as in, keep the cancer out of the other boards. I know that is what /b/ is for but frankly people who use other boards tend to avoid /b/ so giving us another offtopic board that is already being used that way would be cool, while letting those of us who actually wish to discuss sports a place of our own. What are the chances this could actually happen?Administrator Reply: >>116589
nothing? nothing at all?
Isn't /ath/ reserved for /ath/ -- atheism?
>>110788No, not that I am aware of but even so I wouldn't give a shit what its called, just make a separate sports board that is meant for sports and not shitposting.
>>110788>/ath/ - Atheismpls no
OK, here is an original comment. Moot, please read this, /sp/ desperately needs a change!
We really need /sp/ to split into 2 boards, leave the shit posters behind, and have a real sports board that is SFW.
I am with OP.
It would be better than it is now
Sure, and then watch everyone flip the fuck out when they're banned from /ath/ for what they deemed on topic for that game.
>>115267how do you figure?
>>115275/sp/ is full or retards, shitposters or not. People will want /ath/ to be strict. If there is an /ath/, there shouldn't be any threads with tfw guy saying "tfw can't into pitching" with a braves hat on.also, the gymnastic waifu threads would try to be justified there >.<
Shit post I'm okay with on /sp/Power RankingsNon-beta advice seeking (i.e This is my favorite board and I'm moving to San Fran any tips)All others things are complete shit, and right now is the majority of the board
>>115283I have no issue with sports related reactions images and sports related threads that walk the line but college general and >tfwywncomkf and the other things currently shitting up the board? no.
>>115290WE HAVE A TRAVEL BOARD FOR A REASONPower rankings are fine as long as it's sports related
Yeah I could support thisshitposting with a dash of sport on one board (essentially keeping /sp/ as it is now) and then a moderated, actually sfw sports board at /ath/.
>>115346I think he or she is referring to friendliness of fans/sports venues/etc. especially for Europeans asking for American football rules and vice versa
>>115379I'm fine with that but /sp/ isn't >>>/adv/ it's not a blog. Also I purpose a sticky that would link to a rule book or a general outlook on each major sport league(EPL/NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB) So people can watch and enjoy the sports/league without being (completely) lost.
I heard someone say they can't add new boards, is this true?
I don't think you understand how shitposters work. They like shitting up good threads and regular discussion, not going to a place where they're expected to shitpost
>>115904Not really, /sp/ shit posters don't usually shit up game threads or sports topics, they only make shitty threads of their own. They still "like sports" but they also like "hurr durr alpha bro culture."
this sounds perfectop is a god
>>116143why thank you! now if only moot would make this happen... I would be fucking ecstatic.
so you're making a 2nd /b/shit idea for a shit board.
>>116404more like /sp/ for some sports and some off topic bro culture convo and /ath/ for only sports/strictly moderated. I'd say /sp/ is already /b/ 3.0 after b and r9k, instead of trying to fight it, let the guys who want to strictly discuss sports do so on their own board.
>>116415so you're having a 2nd /b/
>>116421its already being treated that way, we just want a board we can chat about sports without being bothered with off topic bullshit
moot why do you avoid /sp/ threads?
>>116539Dude you have literally posted in just about every thread posted in the last 3 hours, and yet you ignore /sp/ I don't care if you make a new board or not but *something* needs to be done about /sp/
>>116579Because the theme of every thread is "/sp/ needs moderation" and my every answer would be "janitor apps soon." I am not going to split the board.
>>116589OK, Thank you for the answer, its something.
>>116589>janitor apps soonYeah, if by "soon", you mean "in about three years"
>>116589Moot baby you gotta give us a solid time frame hereAre you actually going to open them in a few weeks? Or are you just gonna procrastinate?cmon babe we need ya
>>116589Don't listen to these assholes, moot. /sp/ is perfectly fine as it is. If you guys want to post on a serious sports board with moderation there's plenty of options out there.
>>116721Same logic used for defending "/v/ culture" shit.Pay no attention the the ideas of the shitposters.
>>116589Why do you go out of your way to make /sp/ a worse place in the meantime though?
>>116761Moot is a complete and utter retard that should have left the administration to someone more competent a long time ago, that's why. This site needs to be run more like a business, and less like a hobby.
M00t, we can apply as janitors, but what's the point? You are simply going to remove our powers if were are too strict, and you stick shitposting threads.
>>116721>implying you even watch sports>implying you aren't from /v/, /a/ or /tv/
>>116721>/sp/ is perfectly fine as it isno it's not you stupid cocksucker
>>116589>new janitors>moderation happens>shitposters from /v/ and other boards complainmoot: Hey, it was only a joke, /sp/ has no moderation, here's a sticky about clapping
That is a terrible idea OP I hate you
>>116589How about a SFW random board? People want to talk about about weird and random shit, but not have to deal with the gore and pedo shit on /b/. A SFW version of /b/ could alleviate the shitposting problem for a lot of boards, especially /sp/.
>>116589not just told, but mootold.
>>117949I just wanted an answer from him regardless so at least we know something will be done.
>>116589Doesn't help that you sticky shitposting threads
>board today when the premier league was on>5 hours of pure, unadultered banter with the lads>after that>no sports are on>chill with the lads with a couple of brewsthere's nothing wrong with /sp/
only new people (post 2009-10) give a shit about the offtopic threads on /sp/if youve been there since the beginning, you would see it's always been shit
>>118609I've been there since the beginning and I still give a shit about it. What about you?
