Fyi OP, Health Tourism is a key feature of why we have such a massive immigration problem in this country.

People are literally coming here specifically to take advantage of the NHS.

It's not because of the people who live here that the NHS is in dire straits, but because of the increased strain put on it by non-taxpayers.
>>
>>17175833

Private healthcare's pricing is fucked up at the moment because they're trying to compete with a service that the public is forced to pay for. Right now, to go into private healthcare is to be paying for healthcare twice over.

Do bear in mind that the people of this country can already afford healthcare as they're already paying for the NHS, and to imply that a private system would somehow be overall more expensive than a public system is absolutely batshit insane. Private companies actually care about how their money gets spent because they can't just coerce more out of the taxpayer.

Not personally because I never need to go to the hospital; though if taxes were lowered so that I actually had money I could save up, I'd be able to pay for my own treatment should I need it.

Seriously this country is already affording healthcare, and privately owned companies always do a better job than public ones. This isn't even speculation, it's straight up fact. The only people who'd "lose out" from tearing apart the NHS are the irresponsible people who leech off it.

And if you can't afford your own medical treatment, why should I pay for it for you? Are you going to pay for mine when I can't afford it? Of course you can't, because if you could afford to do that you could've just paid for your own treatment in the first place. The only reason the NHS actually manages to function is because only a fraction of the people that pay for it actually use it.
>>
>>17176448

>implying that Americans do not pay far, far more.

The non-reimbursed cost of treating uninsured people (who make up a disproportionately large proportion of patients) is a massive strain on the US healthcare system. Massive bills go unpaid by patients so the hospitals jack up their prices to cover. One of the main thrusts of the ACA was to eliminate this segment from healthcare.

Of course, that segment doesn't exist at all in the UK. Sure, some people abuse the system, but you take the small bit of bad with the overwhelming good.
>>

This is one area where the contribution of the many, create a service which is there when needed by those who get sick.

Only lefties are proud of it.

Normal people are not.

Sadly we are in short supply.

The best is European style.

America is good but just as fucked as the UK system really because you pay through the nose and many go without. People are tied to jobs for life just because if they leave they lose their medical care.
>>

>Only lefties are proud of it.

nope

UK:
>Break arm

Don't worry, mate, the NHS has got your back.

so you're seriously saying that you've never been to the doctor and never will?

i guess you're delusional as well as retarded
>>

If everybody had accidents, insurance couldn't exist. The fact of the matter is that the NHS can exist because not everyone needs healthcare all the time. In fact, most people don't need it at all.

Im proud of having a good infastructure and a good wellfare system.

You lot are fools then.

What's to be proud of?

Scandal after scandal after scandal, people dying needlessly.

A terrible public sector culture where staff just don't give a fuck, one huge bureaucratic nightmare.

In the US, if you need something urgent, your doc will organise it.

In the UK, wait a week for the hospital to find out. Wait 2 weeks to get referred.

See the doc, wait another week for diagnostic tests.

Another week for your follow up.

Another week for your op.

etc. etc.

They work week by week, never deviating from their fucking schedules. All the while you see fat arse people on the gravy train, from the consultants down to the overpaid nurses (you don't actually believe they are poor do you?), sucking the tit of the state and having it large.

Literally in some cases, I've seen waddling niggers take their time doing their admin.

NHS is one big fucking joke. And I can compare it to a European country, the US and Hong Kong.

But oh we're so British we can't knock the NHS, even though it's killing us. NHS is one big fucking joke, you just don't realise it.

thats fucking retarded, thats just typing nonsense and expecting it to be a coherent argument.

Confirmed for never having experienced healthcare in both countries. Most US care is just as, if not more shit than the UK.

>>
>>17180096
Wrong. If you're insured, you will get faster referrals.

I know guys who had my cancer who in the US and most of them had the surgery within two days, some waited up to a week, from initially seeing their doctor.

In the UK, I had to wait a total of 6 weeks.

US also has better tech and access to medicine.

Heck, it wasn't long ago that the UK only had one cyberknife. Now they have maybe a handful.

They were sending a lucky few patients (most did not qualify) to France to get the cyberknife.

NHS is a fucking religion.

In principle I'm all for it, but if you criticise it or suggest it should be changed at all you must be a Tory millionaire baby killing fascist.

You didn't even read that. This is not about old people.

That's a different NHS killing machine crisis you are referring to. This link is a new report just about to be released.
>>
>>17180552
So why do more people in the US die from cancer than in the UK?
>>
>>17179431
Forgot the
>wait for 6 hours cuz all the Laqueesha and the mudslimes are in the waiting line
>nurses are being lazy bitches, and keep going on breaks after every 10 minutes
>doctors decide to call it a day by 5pm and on the doctors for the emerg are there
>see the doctor, and be sent to get an x-ray scan
>wait 1 hour there
>finally get it done, and are sent back just to see a different doctor
>finally get the cast
>pay for the cast itself
so basically pay $25 for the cast and waste 7 hours in waiting line and are forced to miss work/school the next day

Yup, the NHS sure has my back
>>
>>17180612
Indeed, it's a fuckin joke. It's beyond ridiculous. And yet it's now a killing machine.

Another thing, we have terrible rates of MRSA compared to modern European countries like Holland.

I remember when my dad was in hospital and some blood dripped out of his arm. The African nurse cleaned it by pressing her thumb and wiping the blood off the surface!!

>In a world of ~7 billion people, how many car companies are there?
About 282 car companies in the world
http://www.carsurvey.org/

>How many of these are owned fully or in part by a State?
How many of the ones owned by the State are operational and sold outside of their own countries? How many can compete with the other companies of the world? How many state-owned car companies, without the benefit of legislation, can compete with domestic car manufacturers?

>How many of the rest have required State subsidies are at one point?
You're pointing out the flaw of Corporatism, that companies that ought to have sinked, didn't. It's not the flaw of the Free Market, but the flaw of gov't and politicians who sell power.

THIS.

>>17180722

Few months back I took the end of my thumb off when preparing food. Not all the way, just a flap of flesh maybe 1/3" thick hanging of the end. Obviously needed stitches.

Phoned the non-emergency line, they told me to just hold my hand above me head and keep pressure on it. Told them it was definitely more serious than that but they insisted this was the best course of action.

Ignored them and got a taxi to A&E. Stood in line with the thumb wrapped in a tea towel for 15 minutes, nurse finally finishes her conversation and asks what I need. Tell her what's happened, takes all my details, tells me to just take a seat.

3 hours later I'm called into the back, nurse looks me over, then asks me to wait while she deals with something else. Comes back after another 20 minutes and I finally get the fucking stitches.

Don't know how that would go in America, but I definitely wasn't impressed. Guess I'm just spoiled from growing up with a medic for a parent. My dad always used to deal with stuff like that when I was a kid, never in A&E before this.

At least he tests you.

In the UK, he'll refuse to test you until you fight for it, by which time it may be too late and you die.

Pay to live or die for free, which do you prefer?
>>
>>17181378

>don't know how that would go in America.

Something like this:
>take end off thumb
>take taxi to ED ($25)
>sit in line with uninsured Mexicans for half an hour
>overworked nurse takes a look at your thumb and tells you to wait
>four hours later after all the Mexicans have been seen the nurse calls you again
>cleans the wound and stitches it
>you get the bill
>$1000 for shitty service
>medical insurance decides that care was not urgent and refuses to pay

You just get the same shit level of service except you have pay through the nose here.
>>
>>17181174
lol!!!

I loathe people like you who refuse to criticise the NHS.

If you think the UK is so perfect, what the fuck are you doing on /pol/?

Red pilled people use logic, they see flaws that the denying left don't, and propose how to fix them.

You're clearly in the wrong place mate. You've been brainwashed.
>>
>>17181691

No. You idiot. In the UK, the necessary tests are done. In the US, any test the doctor can think of is done and you pay the bill.

Grow up and stop thinking that tests are a magical medical tool that tells the doctor exactly what is going wrong. Here in the UK a newly graduated doctor is expected to be able to diagnose 95% on history and examination alone.

Oh the wonderful NHS!!
>>
>>17181768

I don't refuse to criticise the NHS. I realise it has a lot of problems. However, I choose to view those problems in comparison to other country's health systems, and see the social value in a system that provides healthcare to all. If you think that privatising care would improve things, you're an idiot. Look at the States. They're moving their whole Medicare payment model to one that resembles the NHS (block grants of cash rather than payment per service). I see the bad AND the good of our system, whereas you whine about it lacking perfection.

>>
>>17181839
Ah wonderful NHS targets, I'm aware of them, that's why doctors hate to refer.

Let's take an example. I had a lump. The doctor should have referred me immediately.

Instead, to keep his referral numbers down, he sent me for an ultrasound. Funnily enough, it was at a private hospital! You couldn't make it up!

It came back as I expected and I had to be referred. We wasted a total of four weeks while all that was going on and I was chasing madly when I should have been seen two to three weeks earlier.

The lump had grown by then.

The NHS is a lumbering giant. But it's not just the bureaucracy, it's the culture of the staff too. The Mid-Staffs enquiry found the same too.

Oh but they don't want us blaming untouchable angel nurses do they? The fact is that they are culpable too.

My guess is that you have family working in the NHS, otherwise you wouldn't be in so much denial about the massive problems that it has.

The main reason ordinary Brits are proud of the NHS is because it's one of the few things we collectively built up, and consequently own, that the rich Tory cunts who run this country havn't been able (despite more than thirty years of trying) to steal from us, so they can "sell" it's services back to us for a profit.
Fuck Thatcher and all who sailed with her.

Nope there are only 27. All of the companies that you listed are subsidiaries of these 27. 8 of which are Chinese owned, 1 is partly owned by Iran, 1 is party owned by France and 1 is partly owned by the US. Of the rest all have received government funding at some point.
