Sociological theories do not stem from gathering data, interpreting that data, arguing a viewpoint, having that viewpoint challenged and then compromising to form the most logical explanation.

Sociological theories are created by interpreting a facet of society, validating your field's pet theory (the blank-slate theory) and never having it academically challenged.

People have shown time and time again that they are not price sensitive in the manners suggested by current economics. They exhibit "step pricing", where they don't differentiate between $4 and $8 but differentiate between $1.99 and $2.69.

There are TV programs that show people obtaining hundreds of dollars in groceries for 10% the retail price yet coupon use doesn't increase, it's actually decreased.

There's nothing arbitrary or "methodologically incorrect" about Keynesianism. It's just about the best we have when compared to monetarism or the blight that is the Chicago school, and I really am not sure why you can't see that.

People don't have a set behavior short of "make money spend money". They see something they go "I want it" and then determine "can I afford it". That's really it, and Keyensianism gets them working and gets them believing that they can afford it. When working with simple minds, simple strategies are often the best.
