double jeopardy is when the accused has gone to jail for a crime he did not commit, and cannot be jailed again for the same crime.

for example if i get thrown in jail for killing my brother, do my time, get out, and find out my brother is alive... I can go kill my brother without consequences.

The protests were the reason he was arrested in the first place. Police found no reasonable cause for arrest, let him go. Justice4traytray happened, florida governor pressured Sanford pd to arrest Zim. They fired the guy in charge who refused to arrest him without probable cause and then arrested him.

if your original charge was muder 1 (crime of passion or a fit of anger) you cant be re-tried on murder 1.

if you serve your time, find out your brother is still alive, then plot to murder him, they will try you a second time for murder 2 (planned, spiteful or malicious murder)

Try again. While unable to be charged with 2nd degree murder or manslaughter, there's still prosecution trying for first degree murder (which is all about showing intent, into which real emotional shit comes into play,) or capital murder. Those options are still quite on the table.

Idiot, I'm saying that he can't be charged with murdering Trayvon again because he was found to be not guilty. So yeah, if the prosecution wanted to take the case to court a second time, they wouldn't be able to because that would be double jeopardy.
