depends on the property. There won't be a ww3, it will most likely be regional, and probably involve china and japan. You can't make money on any relevant strategy because of timing issues.

Seems like a fair question. There are areas in this country where you can buy a decent house from a bank for 50k-75k if you are lucky.

What would you do with $100,000.00 cash
>>
>>18097828

yes, i've been tracking his trades since the GFC days. His strategy involves cheap option pricing more than trying to predict accurately. Because yen has been so strong, and JGB volatility so low for so long, Black Scholes Merton pricing of using volatility as risk causes mispricings in those options. He searches for mispricings in optionality, not being right with all his bets. Thats why he hasn't focused on china up till now, since if you watch commodity, china related stock option prices, risks in a china hard landing is fully priced in.
>>
>>18097733

paper gold is decoupling from physical, futures are in backwardation and the GOFO is negative.

bad times ahead.

pick an index like the ES NQ TF or YM, sell it till your hands bleed, make sure you have capital to prevent a margin call if it goes up another 3%.

go away so you don't panic out of the position and let it settle to cash on its own.

then make a pile of cash and jump off your bed into it.

Hedge funds are like mutual funds except, unlike mutual funds, hedge funds can take long or short positions in pretty much any security whereas mutual funds con only have a long position in a stock or bond.

Hedge funds usually have high investment minimums (10 million +) and are exclusively used by institutions and very wealthy people.

reits suffer from short term financing risk, which is why they got hammered recently since they are highly leveraged and dependent on short term rates. I've been buying up pheonix rental properties, I think rates will go lower, so I can refinance even from the already low rates and sit on very attractive rental cash flow yields.

I really don't understand how people can trade FX and think they can do it reliably without a macro view attached. If you have a view, why limit yourself to just FX. Aka: I believe in structural deflation, so I'll find assets or construct strategies that will generate high returns. The idea that somehow you trade every currency pair is retarded to me, just because you have a view on USDJPY doesn't mean you suddenly know everything there is to know about AUDEUR. The key to investing is to do your homework.

value/some macro through hedges, about 200m. I am planning to raise my own fund in a years time with about 2m in family/relative money as well as my own personal savings. I've already drafted the PPM. My own personally portfolio has been running at 35%+ IRR, especially after hitting 10x on most of my yen put options this year. I focus on a mix of small cap value ideas (where there isn't a lot of sellside analyst coverage) and long term macro (where people don't tread because of siloing or structural inefficiencies in the asset management industry).

Try this, the reason the fed is tapering is not that the economy is improving, which it clearly isn't, they are not stupid. They are tapering because they are draining liquidity from the shadow banking system which used treasuries as collatoral. With so much buying, if repo failure becomes imminent due to a shortage of supplies, liquidity from the system drains either way. Any markets are priced on QE forever, so they are stuck. And because the fed is stuck, there is no room for stock prices to run up anymore. They can let the shadow banking system collapse and have asset prices collapse or they can stop QE and let asset prices collapse. There is no way out.

So that is not my cup of tea. Markets are about other people's perception. To quote Howard Marks, Type I thinking is : a stock is good, I am going to buy it, but you never make money this way. Type II thinking is: this stock is ok, but it is priced like it will go to the moon, time to short. Or, this company is kinda crappy, but its priced like it will roll over tomorrow, and here is why, so buy. You don't make money paying full price for good companies.

In fact, automation alone would create mass poverty. To stop that, government will have to step in and give the "unnecessary people" some money or jobs. And in the future, it might be even necessary to encourage some people to have less children, because we no longer need large dumb working class masses.
