Never had to deal with an assembly but I do remember the elementary school displays of Black history month that had Lincoln's photo on one side and frederick douglas on the other with pictures of peanuts and jiffy peanut butter on the board. Looking back at it it's quite funny

Christ, I remember those.

The school wanted to be progressive as fuck so one year the black kids are given the "opportunity" to direct their own show. The whole thing was a trainwreck, people didn't show up for their parts and the ones that did were too lazy to have any kind of rehearsal so they fucked up.

Another year we had this guy come in and he had a big screen set up with a montage of pictures with him with famous black celebrities. And he would remind us every 5 minutes "I'S BE FAMOUS LIKE DEES PEEPS BUT I'S STILL CARE ABOUT DA KEEDS, DAS WHY I'S HERE YO." Playing loud rap "music" and cringe worth rap groups would perform with a token wigger.

Every year I got slightly more racist at that school.
