I spent the day sorting through and re-reading a few thousand e-mails from 2010, and it was really a blast from the past. What a year it was.
Thanks for an awesome 9 years, and for some great e-mails along the way.

As always, I read all of my e-mail and can be reached with questions/comments/concerns/hate mail/and plain ol' hellos at moot@4chan.org (or on AIM at MOOTCHAT).
tl;dr version of 2010: "SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, and VIRUSES: The Movie"

Since we always talk shit on Communism/Socialism, I've decided we should have a positive thread on /pol/ for once.
So lets talk and share stuff about the achievements of Socialism.

Yes, just because something seems cool is totally a justification for doing that instead of more urgent things like feeding your own people or making sure they have toilet paper. Definitely the most appropriate use of resources.

This was mainly only a large issue at first during the first stages of collectivization. Also the food shortages at the time can hardly be blamed on the USSR.

The land owners were purposely withholding food and producing less food on purpose so they could drive market prices through the roof. This combined with a terrible winter and drought in summer, resulted in widespread crop failures across the entire region.

Anyway I don't want to make this a discussion about how shit the USSR was like every terrible dicussion on this board devolves into, it's about Soviet and Socialist achievements.

Come on, read some history. USSR was exporting food even as its population was starving. The government even refused to open up the granaries during the famine.

In the 70s the Soviet Union had an even higher life expectation than USA.

It had the 3rd highest GDP after USA and Japan.
The 2nd strongest military.
In Olympia it was the 2nd strongest combatant.

-After the Union collapsed the Suicide rate skyrocketed.
-People now live much poorer than in the Soviet Era.
-Criminality skyrocketed.
>>
>>10474258
Not in Ukraine.

Also the USSR was exporting Grain, but that was because they desperately needed money since the country was a feudal shithole and most the people were dying anyway.

The biggest criticism of Stalin at that point was that he tried to industrialize way too fast. But remember, with the rise of Fascism and the constant threat of international invasion from the British Empire, Germany or America. They needed seriously to get manufacturing off the ground.

Yes the very early bolshevik era was dominated by highly progressive types. They tried to entertain the workers with avant-garde plays and promoted the collectivisation of sex and love. Stalin was fundamentally fairly conservative, so he undid all that garbage.

>tfw efficient allocation of resources, economic planning, and investment on a global scale could have us all working 3 hours a day and American scale fat

Go to places like India, Indonesia, Nepal, Africa, etc where there are still people living largely off sustenance agriculture or other primitive economic functions that don't contribute much to the greater whole, build them up with technology, collectivization, industry, etc. Move industry back to the West while building domestic industry in those countries and building them up as independent self sufficient powers ala Soviet industrialization.

Boom, huge new workforce, record levels of production, technology that would otherwise give way to unemployment in the capitalist system (robots making burgers that have been posted here) can be used to improve production without putting people out on the street and driving down wages, meaning a larger workforce with less socially necessary labor required to maintain the system.

If the Soviets hadn't pussied out when it came to nuclear arms and testing controls, they would have spurred the US to adopt pic related instead of chemical rockets.

I miss the USSR. I wasn't alive for much of the Cold War but it's obvious that America is at its best when we have a true rival to keep us from getting complacent.

Russia or China, or both, please step up and start making threatening moves again. Remind us Americans of what's important, egg us on a bit. We need you! We'll still trade with you and whatnot, just be better rivals.

It's the goal that America decided they would go for, because they decided to set the bar that fucking high. Did you guys ever even orbit the moon? We decided to go there because the technical undertaking would prove America and the capitalist system's dominance over a weak incompetent system fueled by apathy. We decided to go the fucking Moon because it was there, and we said, "Hey, we're Americans. That's fucking ours now. Fucking slavs can deal with it."

If the US had chosen to go with non-chemical propulsion, we would have put a much larger station into orbit much earlier, not to mention trips to Mars and Saturn's moons. Plans had manned landings on Mars by 1965, flybys of Enceladus in 1970.

No, Russia could have gone to the moon after Americans.

But you have to understand the Russian mindset and pride. Why bother being 2nd if you were not 1st? They were like: "Screw it. We are not going after them on the moon. We should make it look like we were never interested in it anyway."

It will be fucking humiliating if the Chinese go there before Russia, though. Considering that Russia kick started the whole race. Putin should do something and restore the Russian pride and go to moon.

But what has Russia ever done for us Negroes?" . . . The answer is very simple and very clear: "Russia," I say, "the Soviet Union's very existence, its example before the world of abolishing all discrimination based on color or nationality, its fight in every arena of world conflict for genuine democracy and peace, this has given us Negroes the chance of achieving our complete liberation within our own time, within this generation."

Putin should probably do something about the fact that modern Russia is shittier than the USSR ever was and that the US if funnelling Afghan narcotics into the country to keep the much of the population addicted to drugs.

population wise 20%+ of some major cities in Russia are classified as severe heroin addicts.

The Berlin Wall wasn't a bad idea at the time. The US certainly didn't mind it, they didn't want to have to deal with East Germany emptying itself into west berlin.

One thing I love about modern russia is that they are so poor they still largely use surplus USSR stuff for their military and police.
Seriously, often their police and military will still be wearing the hammer and sickle on their hats and uniforms.

You are right. Did you know that Russia lost more resources/money from 1990-1998 than in WW2? Gorbachev did some mistakes but Yeltsin was a fucking disaster. He gave Russias resources away for fucking free. Western businessmen were ready to split Russia up. Russia was on the brink of fucking destruction. On the brink of a fucking civil war. People didn't receive any money for months! The 90s were the most terrible time for Russia after the Stalin era.

Thats why I think Putin has done much for Russia. The income has tripled, the unemployment is under 7% and the population decline is stopped.

Russia is still chaotic and corrupt but it is independant and it has the control back over it's wealth.

You can't cheat in classical music, classical dance. But there's no more "Art" in painting.

At least these official artists were craftsmen, they knew a technique and celebrated those who actually produced something valuable.

Plus Revolution gave birth too, in its early times, interesting experiences as Constructivism. But our current system spoiled it. We live in lies where workers are stolen by parasites using worthless abstractions to hypnotize the crowds.

The finance is a big lie. The dollar is a lie. The FED is not Federal. And our "Art" reflects this situation. It is mainly just crap wrapped with pseudo-intellectual mumbling.

At the end shit in cans worths gold: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artist%27s_shit

Kind of funny as that is the exact scenario in many western countries now.

No protest zones, no free speech zones, prostesters being herded away by riot police to areas away from where everyone else is.

Keep in mind that the rulers of the Soviet Union were the sons of soldiers in WW2.

The horror of WW2 was still fresh and the SU was therefore very paranoid about America. All the satellite states were installed as an protection belt against western invasions.

After WW2 the Russians swore that never, ever again should any country invade Russia.

Every factory in the SU could be transformed in a tank plant in 1 week.
Every school/hospital/theater had a bunker.
Every pupil had to learn in school how to shoot. Even girls.

It's unbelievable how paranoid they were.

What you can't see in these photos and paintings is that everyone in the USSR lived in fear and hated their lives, they all wish they could escape to the west but couldn't because they knew their families would suffer if they did.
Life in the USSR was dreadful for everybody except Stalin.

People would have friends and family disappear over night for no reason because Stalin would kidnap them and put them to work in forced labor camps.

Communism and Socialism has failed everywhere. It is time to move on to An-Cap and build a world where technology borne out of competition gives everyone a perfect life.

Then I want you to test the motherfucker in wind tunnels using only load bearing meters with a clipboard to take measurements, manual aerodynamic computation to figure out its hyper-sonic characteristics, engineer the exterior (BY HAND) to withstand re-entry and the sheer amount of rocket science necessary to complete the project before the 1980s.

Space happened despite the Soviet System and not because of it. Soviets had the scientists building their rockets tortured, thrown into gulag, some killed and some and almost killed. Lucky for them not all of them died so now the young commies can pound their chest about the superiority of USSR because of rockets these scientists built.

The space shuttle was incredibly expensive and flights on the thing were more expensive than just strapping someone to a rocket and putting them up there. The entire point of the Shuttle was to make space flight cheap due to the vehicle being reusable. This was not ever the case. The Space Shuttle launches cost 20x what they were expected to cost.

The Space Shuttle was also highly compromised by the fact that their original design, which put the space shuttle above the rockets, was rejected by the contractors for being too expensive. This meant the Shuttle could easily be damaged during take off (which happened several times)

Bad design, missed the point. It was a mistake.

What's your point? That portrait is meant to display what kind of person "Thee Fucking Napoleon" was.
While that other one is about peasant life. Of course something well done about Napoleon is going to be more exciting than a painting about the simple life of peasants.

Of course something meant to be exciting is going to be more exciting to look at than something meant to make you feel relaxed.

If you want to see shit art with fucktarded meaning look at >>10479298

I think Soviet art was supposed to be "for the people, by the people" showing the small things and freedoms in life that peasants could now enjoy, when previously, under the dictatorship of the Tsar who would literally just have people gunned people down in the fucking streets, couldn't.

This painting for example, just shows the peasants that they now control the farm that they were slaves to work on before and thus they actually have freedom and are happy.
