i learned early american colonial history
over and over and over again
but i dont remember a damn bit of it, because my teachers would usually stop in the middle of every lesson to preach christianity by way of rambling on about their personal pet peeves and petty minded bigotries. it was an all white school, but we had a fair few discussions about race, lol.

We never learned about the Holocaust (of course, it was mentioned, we just didn't go into detail) or about Aboriginals

Among the things we studied in History

>Pre-War Germany, and the rise of Hitler (which included a segment on the Great Depression)

I think there were more but that was all we did, I always loved History lessons at our school and all the History teachers were awesome about it

High school was a while ago for me. My biggest complaint was actually that we spent any great deal of time learning about the history of civilizations other than our own. I mean, it's not that we spent a great deal of time on the holocaust and on civil rights (that was more of a middle school thing), it's that we spent a great deal of time on India, China, Persia, like two fucking days on Rome, etc.

AP American History was somewhat more thorough (because it covered a much shorter timespan), but I know now that a lot of that class failed to address modern interpretations of our historical actions. I don't mean "critical theory" bullshit, I just mean revisionism. The closest we got was looking at Kennedy and how his administration was plagued with yes men.

Not really... They stumble into the closer towns (mine is about three towns too far, thank God) half cut on petrol, but grog (because alcohol isn't allowed in their town), and smash up that town the best they can before stumbling back.
Hell, the closest town has a 40km speed limit through the central bit because drunk coons will fall asleep on the warm asphalt, and obviously at night they're hard to see.
Of course this means it gives the little niglets (who are also high/drunk) more time to throw shit at passing cars, "because fuck dem whitey cap'n cook bathdards!"

Literally nothing on anything that happened after WWII.

But we did do an entire unit on Aborigines in art, for some reason.

Had the holocaust every year from Grade 7 until we graduated, was half of our WW2 section (which was highly summarized, boiled down to POLAND, INVASION OF RUSSIA, D-DAY, NUKES)

And the rest of the textbook was multiculti as fuck, yeah let's learn about the natives and the 4 blacks that moved to Alberta in the 1800s.

It's even worse when I was 15 and they were throwing out all the old textbooks, I got to sift through one of them. Went into detail about the French and British colonies here, the wars we fought, proper history instead of the shit we were learning.

Literature was pretty decent, especially in 12th grade where we mainly talked about Soviet and Nazi crimes against humans. 95% of the authors we learned about were Jews.

History was fucking bullshit. Soviet Union occupied us for around 70 years and all we learned about 20th century was nationalism in Germany and ofcourse muh holucust.

As a standard subject, Scotland isn't too bad for this. I remember in the first few years, we learned about the Celts and the Kingdoms of Alba and Stratchlyde, the Roman Empire, the Normans, and the Wars of Independence. There wasn't any modern history at all, which was weird.

Then as a 3rd year subject, it got a little political. Industrial Revolution put a lot of focus on how bad it was to be working class, and WWI was made out to be an utterly static affair where working class soldiers were sent to their deaths by posh officers. Nazi Germany was the final unit, so that got a lot of attention. However, I was allowed to also study Russian history from the end of the Romanov dynasty right through to Stalin's purges. Was much more fun and less politically correct.

After that was Higher and Advanced Higher history, which was utterly devoid of PC nonsense. The Crusades without the Islamic apologists, the Scottish Reformation complete with kicking the Frenchies out of Edinburgh, the English Civil War, the age of Empire presented purely in terms of historical events.

Was amazing. So it turned out to be an incredible let down going from that to study European History at University, where everything Europe had ever done was apparently very very evil. Transfered out after the second semester into East Asian History, which seemed to be the only branch of the History faculty which wasn't plagued with PC.

Our teacher didn't cover the background in detail but he was pretty fierce on the idea that the Middle Ages was a time when all people got tooled up and beat the shit out of other people on the basis of religion.

He gave us the attitude that the Crusades were no worse than anything else that went on at the time. Although, personally, I always thought the achievement of the Crusaders was pretty impressive.
