It's a bitter world we've evolving into. It's easy to get distracted by the flashy technology and the bright aspects propped up around us. Masses are being guided by their emotions and feelings, blind or unwilling to hear the truth hiding in walls around them. They sit in their little drywall boxes, tinkering away, chattering. Some get menial jobs, and survive on. Some reach higher, finding themselves above their peers and laughing - all while the powers above them silently snicker at the delusion.

You can't save these people. They don't want to be saved. They don't want to listen to realities. They're happy living in a manufactured life and pay no qualms to the invisible fences guiding their milling paths.


I'm an altruist at heart. I've always been the first laugh in the face of personal risk, if it meant the reward of others. Yet, here, is the one time I think different. You save your family. Your friends. You take all those you care with you; and you forget the rest. Live a meaningful life and influence those you care for - but don't mute you fire by trying to reach out with a thousand ethereal hands. I don't have a catchy final line, make your own.

All generations hop on trends and pop culture. The difference between Gen Z and the rest is the advent of social media, which has given a lot of youth a more narcissistic personality. Emphasis on being famous or a celebrity has risen in entertainment as well. But it's not all bad. More people are going to college, new technologies are emerging, and each generation is just as capable, if not more so than the last. It's just a matter of social priorities changing with time.

It was here that his most famous experiment, the mouse universe, was created.
In July 1968 four pairs of mice were introduced into the Utopian universe. The universe was a 9-foot square metal pen with 54-inch-high sides. Each side had four groups of four vertical, wire mesh “tunnels”. The “tunnels” gave access to nesting boxes, food hoppers, and water dispensers. There was no shortage of food or water or nesting material. There were no predators. The only adversity was the limit on space.

Initially the population grew rapidly, doubling every 55 days. The population reached 620 by day 315, after which the population growth dropped markedly. The last surviving birth was on day 600. This period between day 315 and day 600 saw a breakdown in social structure and in normal social behavior. Among the aberrations in behavior were the following: expulsion of young before weaning was complete, wounding of young, inability of dominant males to maintain the defense of their territory and females, aggressive behavior of females, passivity of non-dominant males with increased attacks on each other which were not defended against.

After day 600 the social breakdown continued and the population declined toward extinction. During this period females ceased to reproduce. Their male counterparts withdrew completely, never engaging in courtship or fighting. They ate, drank, slept, and groomed themselves – all solitary pursuits. Sleek, healthy coats and an absence of scars characterized these males. They were dubbed “the beautiful ones”.

The conclusions drawn from this experiment were that when all available space is taken and all social roles filled, competition and the stresses experienced by the individuals will result in a total breakdown in complex social behaviors, ultimately resulting in the demise of the population.

No mice survived.

I have had to manage a couple of generation Y-ers in the IT industry. They have attention spans of 10 seconds. I literally have to follow up every single thing they do, or they fuck it up, so I often have to do it myself.

I've only been here for a week or two.

I live a very generic, very average life. Unemployed, but seeking. Living with parents, but paying rent when I have income, or doing various chores when I don't. Girlfriend, but distant, but we've met up a few times.


/pol/ is a depressing place for me. When I was young and stupid(er), I watched mainstream news. It got a bit same-y. It was always the same crap. It started to feel artificial. I stopped. Then I switched to internet - and you had two flavors, generic or harbingers of the end times. I avoided the latter for a bit. Somewhere in here, my father went absolutely nuts. And by nuts, I mean less crazy and more disowning all mainstream everything. He questioned everything. From a man who flew out of his seat during 9/11 to a man who now questions all the events around it in a few short years.

Through his influence, my sifting through /pol/, and other various online outlets (whatever I can find to either be chaotic or struggling to be neutral); my eyes are just barely cracking open at the world.

It fucking sucks. The older I get (I'm still young and stupid, mind you); the more I hear. The more the term "Ignorance is a Bliss" shouts at me. The real world is depressing. It's a big cultural machination of man and power; as fake and grotesque as Nicki Minaj's face. And there's no escape. You can climb up or down the ladder, but you can't leave it. There's no Earth II. There's no 'reset' button. And that scares me, to the very core. It keeps me up at night. Because the common man is trapped. You either melt into a tiny cog in this machination, or you turn into feral dust in the wilderness, to scrape a living away from others. No alternatives.

In short: Fuck this gay Earth. Sorry for the off-topic ramble; but naw, Gen Z is pretty much fucked. They're going to devolve into whatever is shaping them and there's about shit all you can do.

When those standardized tests first rolled out, I was told by one of the vice principals that I alone raised the school's aggregate history, science, and social science scores by 3%. This was a school of 2600 kids, about 70% of which were mexicans.

I'm not even trying to toot my own horn, I think my intelligence is average, but I managed to pull that off, it made me more disappointed with my peers than happy with myself for supposedly being so smart.

Human interaction is good, by no means will I refute that. I kinda poked at higher powers at play; but what else is new? It just scares me seeing children... toddlers I should say. Kids at at age when they've only just begun to understand a language; on cellphones. On the internet. Interacting in unusual and new ways; and trying to justify themselves in an awkward void. It's a old stereotype that younger and younger kids are trying to act older and older - but if it's true, shouldn't be be concerned?

I'm not sure. This post is a bit indirect. I'm not really all that good at this. True and False Happiness mean little to me. If someone is happy doing one thing, I have little means to discourage him or her unless it is hurting others or inflicting self-damage. Blindness is what scares me. A generation that can't point to France on a map, or understand that England is not a continent. It's watching young humans become more and more addicted to outlets and products. This, of course, is all in regards to first-world countries where people have the means and money to do so. Is this what society should really be evolving into, though? Social phantoms and, yes, consumerism on lower and lower rungs of the social ladder? I guess it's just my ignorance and youth that had me thinking positive things about the human race. Once again, I'm rambling and spewing odd stuff, so forgive me if possible. Was a pleasure all, gonna pop off for a bit.

In relqtion to the current generation I think I have something which might bring us closer to a solution.

Last year I finished my mandatory 1-year conscription in the army. I'm 25 but got my service postponed due to education.
Oldest in my platoon. The rest mainly 18 year olds...full of YOLO, swag, nigga style yo!, retards with a few basement-dwellers mixed inbetween.
A bunch of fucking misfits...

Through one year of discipline, dedication and hard work...the change was extreme...
Not one of them had the same mentality as when they entered the army. No more nigger-"culture". No more disrespectful bahavior. They "became" proper people.

Maybe not the army is the best solution in general But I think training in discipline, respect and responsibility are major factors to save the current and next generation.

Getting a STEM degree doesn't necessarily mean you're going to join the STEM job market. A lot of physics majors end up in finance, and physics/math majors score the highest on the LSAT. It's more of the fact that people who study things like STEM or Econ have better critical thinking and problem solving skills which are an asset to any job.

Thats at the get go, in weed-out classes as they are called. 1000's of students go through Chem1 and Econ. If you are stupid enough to fail those, then you are just plain retarded. Nobody is going to up your grade individually when dealing with such large numbers, since those courses are already so regimented to pass a certain percentage.

When it comes to other classes, the University is so invested in you that they don't want you to drop out second year or third year that they will give you grades just to get through.

Same with med school after a year or two, you just need to get C's for the rest of your education. Only people who want to be surgeons get A's.

I like the take that when he is talking about magic, he's actually referring to applied psychology. The problem with the next generation is that they lack a defining crisis. Society needs to be shaken up to truly define a generation. They don't need to perceive shit the same way, but it clearly affects their world view.

The other problem is that they lack the attention span to let any of these happenings actually affect them. Kony 2012 is a shining example, but ultimately pointless. Sandy Hook became irrelevant within a month.

Generation Z is a generation of followers and sheeple, and it will stay that way until they know what it means to see your world change drastically in a single instant.

There is no "defining moment" for Generation X. The reason we are "X" is that we are too diverse to be defined. Here's how you understand Gen X:

We don't fit into any neat pigeonholes, except one--we like our pop culture, because it's the only thing we can agree on.

We were the first generation of kids who had to face the first sudden rise in divorced parents and race mixing.

We hate generations that boast and talk about themselves endlessly (that means you, boomers).

We don't talk about ourselves unless/until you say something pants-on-head retarded about us, and we see fit to set the record straight. And, in the process of doing so, we can't come to an agreement because we're too different, so we just say, "Aw, fuck it," and get on with our lives.

tl;dr - There is no defining moment like The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show for us because there were too many different kinds of media around when we were kids.
