As I see it, Russians are great at writing stories, but they don't translate very well into english, and stuff like Karamazov and W&P are very grating and hard to read. Nabokov is Russian style, but in English, so it's a more "genuine" experience, since there is no translator. Lolita actually doesn't have much pedostuff, mostly contained in the first few chapters.

Well, people have decided that it's important enough to be worth writing down and preserving for hundreds of years, so I can take the time to read it, even if it is dull.
