you fags are blowing this way out of proportion.

No we are NOT! The moment this thing passes they will start rounding up dissidents for the FEMA camps! It won't be used at all to battle terrorism, both foreign and domestic. Because, you know, if the government wanted to establish totalitarian rule, they would codify it statutorily first.

    >>687257

every single person speaking has been against it.

it won't pass in the senate.

Besides they made a good point; if the military can shoot you for being a suspected terrorist, whats wrong with jailing them instead?

OP tell an Eurofag what this is about.

I know about NDAA but I thought some part of your retarded government already passed it. so they're debating it again or what?

The bill has passed the House and Senate. They are now debating primarily to get their viewpoints on record and pimp the legislation that will make sure no one can possibly use the NDAA improperly.

It's going to pass. The bill has to pass. The detainee provision is just one small part of a larger defense authorization bill. The Senate can't let funding for our military evaporate.

Laws go throught the senate, then the house, then the president can either approve it or veto it.

It has gone through the senate and is now in the house

Are you working with al Qaeda? No? Then you have nothing to worry about.

"If we can kill American citizens that we suspect are terrorists then why can't we detain them indefinitely? I mean killing them is pretty indefinite isn't it?"

We reject the libertarian idea that if you get to America then it is no longer a war.

The perverse logic is that if you make it to America to attack us, whether you're a citizen or not, you get a free pass. That's crazy.

So you think that congress and Obama are scheming masterminds who want tens of millions of Americans rounded up and are trying to sneak this under the radar just so they can do that?

NDAA means that the executive arm can assassinate and detain anyone they please as long as they call them a terrorist first.

I do not think Obama is twirling his moustache. I think he is a wicked man, but I don't think he thinks of himself as one, and therefore isn't going to behave like a banana republic strongman.

I think Obama and this congress are the ones who will authorized and codify the tools for the strongman to use in one, two, or three administrations down the line of ever increasing government power. China has officially passed us and become the #1 economy, and as they develop further we're going to start feeling the effects of that, and usher in the America First crowd that will not hesitate to use these powers to end the last pretentious vestige of democracy in our country.

In the end that's a good thing, because a despot is far better than a false democracy. Despots are on the stage of the world for all to see, forever stuck with a come at me bro sign around their neck.

Some of us shall indeed come at them.

The law only applies to people associated with al Qaeda. It is impossible to apply this law to anyone not associated with al Qaeda. It is clearly and irrefutably false that the law could be used for anything else.

With the Feinstein Amendment 1031(e)? Because that's unambiguous. It says nothing changes about detaining US citizens.

The question, of course, is if you can already detain US citizens as enemies. But that question existed before this bill and was just as murky.

The legislation that authorized the war on terror has clear and specific language designating the enemy as al Qaeda. It is impossible to apply that to any other group. There is absolutely no justification for any argument that this could be applied to any other group.
