12/10/11(Sat)11:23 No.611155I like that the absence of a pre-modern state somehow legitimizes treating a people as a non-entity, a non-people.
The
Jews could easily use that kind of rhetoric to justify conquering Syria
(There's no Syrian state, syrian people, and the United Monarchy of
Israel ruled in Syria), or Iraq (Babylonian Captivity), or Yemen (Queen
of Sheba), or any fucking place where a modern nation state didn't
emerge until the 19th-20th century.
Jesus christ, Russia could
probably easily make a case for taking every baltic state except
Lithuania because herp a derp there wasn't a state before the modern
era.
>>611058 The
evangelical fuck's hatred of the Mormons has ended up making me
sympathize with the Mormons more. There's that popular discourse of them
being the other, crazy and odd but with exception of the fringe
polygamist groups they seem a lot fucking less harmful than Baptists.
They've got their problems and they are bible-thumpers too, but I'd
sooner live among the Mormons than the baptists. |
