In any such system, what you would see would -not- be ten million individuals making votes based off of their individual enlightened self interest, pardon me.

What you would see would be demagogues, movements religious and secular, and generally any group that can spark that little tribal synapse in the monkey's brain sweeping up the votes of millions of people at a time, convincing them to vote in certain ways, often quite contrary to their own interests.

Quick, call the Commerce Department. Publix is obviously trying to put locally-owned pharmacies out of business. Then Publix will start charging to fill these prescriptions. Soon the price will be so high that the poor will suffer. The Commerce Department will then have to intervene with price controls to ensure that the poor can get cheap drugs. We can stop this cycle now if anti-dumping duties are simply imposed on Publix today.
