    Hi, /pol/, Russia's here.

I don't know if reports on the current situation in Russia are being aired on your television. I'm sure as hell there's nothing on ours. Nothing about 10000 people gathering on a civil meeting in Moscow the next day after the Parliament Elections on the 5th of December. Or that it was treated by the Police as a riot - people beaten with riot shields and night sticks, a group of especially active liberal bloggers arrested along with about 300 other people.
I'm sure the massmedia is not going to run stories on the series of civil protests to the unfair election in most of Russian cities. There's going to be one in my city and me and my friends are definitely going.

To the peoplewondering what this is all about - there was an Election to our Parliament (called something like "Doomah") during which there were hundreds of falcifications. All of them to make the ruling party - United Russia (Единая Россия, you can see their logo in OP pic except it's made to read "Fucking Russia") - take the majority of the sits to themselves again. And

I'm making this thread to measure the opinion of people all around the world who care about politics.

I understand Putin is incredibly powerful over there, the image i've always seen of him has been positive. Obviously thanks to media being his friend and that sort of thing.

Though I want to know more specifically, what has he done that is so terrible?

Many of us here are not in the know so we'd need something a bit more detailed.

Though I saw videos last night of activists finding ballot boxes stuffed with ballots before voting started and of counters falsifying papers as well.

The protests are the beginning of an American coup attempt. The US CIA and State Department are manufacturing dissent and arming the rebels with rhetoric. There are people in every society who will come out to bitch about anything if someone gives them the chance. The next step is to provoke violence. We can expect American covert forces to launch a false flag attack on the fake protests. The end goal is to destroy Russia and turn it into just another American vassal state.

I've read statistics about who are the strongest supporters of United Russia. The younger the electorate gets the more support the party gets, which is insane for any democratic process. For some reason young people actually vote in Russia, or at least that's what the statistics say.

Also because of this trend, it's likely to suspect that Putin isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He only gains more support as the years go by.

Boris Nemtsov, the co-founder to Union of Right Forces, an opposition party to United Russia.

    >It is tragic that the next generation is lost to our struggle. I naively thought that our children would be more freedom-loving than us, but that is not the way it turned out. Surveys show that it is young people under 25 who are the most loyal to the regime. This is a generation that grew up watching Putin's TV networks; it is deeply cynical and pragmatic. This is mostly a generation of kleptocrats and parasites looking to buy patronage and protection. They dream of getting close to the state budget, to live and steal more easily. Organizations like Nashi [the United Russia youth party] are built on a myth of upward social mobility: acting like a spineless lackey is supposedly a guarantee of material success. Young people will do anything to make money and have a career, but they are not ready to join a fight, if they do not know when they can collect their winnings.

    >>582452
You can vote once you're 18 which is pretty much like everywhere else. But United Russia organizes activities and rallies for teens to win them over and recruit them as a supporter. Or they would just relieve college or high school students from studies and use them without any previous propaganda work. And since they can't actually vote UR would use them as a show - give a high schooler or a freshman at college 10 bucks and ship 200 of those to the location, give them props (last thing the came up with were fucking drums). Here you go, there's you instant politically active youth who support UR.

What the fuck do you think it means? I want to see the percentage of people who really want to see more of United Russia presence in Duma and not an accumulated number of those and fake votes that UR managed to get themselves. This is all. Is that fucking unreasonable? I voted for communist party just because I knew it was going to get a lot of voices (more or less - I would expect UR do 40% without any dirty tricks) and the communist delegates are sure to make some noise when UR comes up with some ridiculous new law.

This is the kind of shit laws I don't want to face if we are to have another 5 years of UR just oblitirating any opposition and doing whatever they want.

Also we are not yet talking about president election - but I think it's just important to have a party with an alternative opinion and a presence that would actually matter.

    Protester here.

I was captured at 20:30 near the "Чистые Пруды" (Clear Ponds, region in the center of Moscow, where the meeting against unfair elections have happened").

There were 22 guys, one of them was New York Times emploee lol. He showed his ID and police let him go.

Rest of us were arrested for 48 hours. First ~12 we spent in cage, 13 people in bigger, 9 people in smaller. Without water or food, until our lawyers arrived... but in other police stations, people hadn't even seen their lawyer, water or food. It is torture.

And about elections. It was unfair from the start, coz most of political patries hadn't acess to. From the ultra-left ("Another Russia), to moderate nazis (National-Democraic Alliance), more then 10 parties hadn't any chances to take their part in elections.

Communists' meeting gathered 300 people. Our meeting gathered ~7000 people)

In the real fair elections, noone would clearly "win".

Sorry for my english, haven't practiced so much.

Hope you don't fall for it again. Remember the last 20 years.

Why don't you start a riot, get rid of all the corrupt government and the mafia?

Also why are you so obsessed with bears?

I don't support Putin and his party. But I wouldn't want a riot in which the whole government is overthrown to destabilize the country.

And about bears - it's a fucking logo, should be a symbol of nation or whatever. Here, have another.

Even at "only" 45% of the vote, if you add the LDP, United Russia are virtually guarunteed a majority

Even excluding irregularities, United Russia are certainly a lot more popular than the other parties. Putin is the strongman, and in Russia the strongman is all that really matters. As there is no other important presidential candidate except his own protege, any party without his support will very likely fail to gain much support

And don't forget the alternative is literally communism, or Fair Russia (each around 13%). Yabloko (Liberals) manage only 4%

    >Thinking Putin is a good guy

    http://www.kavkazcenter.com/eng/content/2009/09/06/10979.shtml

    >One of the odder footnotes to the whole affair was a statement that Gennady Seleznyov, the Speaker of the Duma, had made on the floor of Parliament on the morning of September 13, 01999. I have just received a report, he had announced to legislators. An apartment building in the city of Volgodonsk was blown up last night.

    >While Seleznyov got the basics right - an apartment building had indeed just been blown up - he had the wrong city; the blast that morning had been at 6/3 Kashirskoye Highway in Moscow. Which put the Speaker in kind of an awkward spot when an apartment building in Volgodonsk was blown up three days later. At least one Duma member found that puzzling.

    >Mr. Speaker, please explain, he had asked Seleznyov on the Parliament floor, how come you told us on Monday about the blast that occurred on Thursday?

    >In lieu of an answer, the questioner had his microphone quickly cut off.

Why do people still try to act like he's a good person?

What about the mafia? I know a Turkmen woman and she says that if you live in Russia and own an extremely small business like a grocery store, you will still have to fuck with mafia. And she also says that cops are mafias too.

Why don't you start killing cops and attacking every mafia you know with your bare hands? I am completely serious. And also I like you, I like the way how open minded and honest and warm Russians are. You got fucked by the czar, then you got raped by Stalin and now you're getting sodomized by the mafia. I feel sad for you. Why don't you just start a riot?

No you're a traitor in general. I suspect you're an American. Nobody would wish their country sold out to the people who've tried to destroy it for half a century. To anyone. Government is always bad. It's not necessary in a country that would fight invasion without command. That's what Russia was and is. You want to change that.
You could be Russian. Anything's possible. Youth are gullible, propaganda can convince them of anything. This join the EU shit is the product of propoganda. It's sabotage. Acting upon it is treason. It would be like youths in the USA demonstrating a movement to make it part of a South American union. Make it's currency a peso and pull down it's borders.

Better them than United Russia. Fuck those guys. Seriously. I'm a person who cares little for politics but I would rather have 3 parties with somewhat equal number of delegates than UR with 65% and who the fuck cares about all the others if they can't beat them in voting? There was a video where all the delegates just left Duma and since their voice wouldn't matter a law was passed with one buy who was ordered to press all the buttons on the chair so that everyone voted positive. Let them fucking work instead of doing shit like this. Communists or no - they should opose every piece of shit law UR is trying to push.

    >Iran has the capability to hit the United States with a nuclear weapon

    >Putin saved the US and Iran from a nuclear holocaust

Which of those do you believe?
