Well, Nazism and Communism are still alive and well despite having been soundly defeated in the last century.

    OWS could be around forever.

They were unorganized, unappealing to the rest of the population, incoherent with their demands etc etc.

I am sure in time a new charismatic political organization will rise and take advantage of the current political and financial discontent in this country.

I can't believe people are still so misinformed as to think OWS is a movement of overprivileged slackers butthurt that they can't achieve their upper middle class parents' standard of living within a year of graduating college. The fact that upward mobility has become the exception rather than the rule thanks to thirty years of Reaganomics is, contrary to every asspie randroid who will refute me, a bad thing, and people aren't going to stop worrying about it because a few heavily armored thugs crack down on them. It's only going to make people more desperate. The peaceful encampments of the last two months represented a sort of last chance, I'm afraid. Now you have hundreds of thousands, and soon millions, of desperate, alienated young people who feel they have nothing to lose.

so nice to see the internet strong tough guy wannabes are still out in force.

Chicagoan here, our protests are getting extremely small on the street level, right now it seems very apparent that there is a lot going on behind the scenes, on one Thursday protest they got several hundred into the streets and blocked a bridge out of seemingly nowhere, I went to a few of the GA's and the practically said that they are planning on throwing everything they can get at the G8 summit/Nato conference. So while the street level activity is going down, the backroom activity is going up, there are many anarchist, socialist and communist groups that are getting involved as well as many unions now, it is amusing though that the stereotype is that it is all college students, they were the first to turn and leave after it started getting chilly out, now it is mostly people in their 30's and 40's
