They'll use the trip to go pick up smokes or as a free meal break after they've delivered every other pizza on the trip (you'll be dead last). Your pizza will be cold, and nobody will care. The manager sure as shit won't, because it's no secret that managers hate their customers.

Meanwhile, us civilized human beings will get our pizza in 20 minutes and about 1 time in 10 it'll have free breadsticks, and it only costs us a couple bucks.

Tipping is a total investment. The "tip" jar at a Chipotle is just a place for change you don't want. One time, I felt bad because it had a single quarter in it, so I put in a $5 bill. The guy at the register came to my table with a free burrito coupon, yielding me a net profit of $2.50.

Delivery boy here.

If you don't pay the full expected price, your quality of service will be less. We keep track of houses that don't tip and converse with each other about it. Your food will be sloppily made. If we have multiple stops to make, you will be last. If we had a bad day, we may mess with the food, spit, dirt picked up at the pedals of the truck, etc, to have some fun. You won't notice.

It's pathetic to not pay the full price of the service you use simply because it isn't wrote plainly at the bottom of the receipt. Yes, amerifats, in this endeavor you're required to use a little of your brain to consider what the due pay of the delivery boy is.
And, it's not wise to treat the people who service your amerifats badly.

What I cant understand after reading this entire thread is why people who use services such as a pizza delivery somehow are so entitled they feel that they dont need to acknowledge the fact that they didnt have to leave their tiny little world in order to have hot and tasty food delivered to their door step.
Even worse is the fact that these same people seem to think that the delivery fee that many places tack onto your bill is going to the driver, it rarely if ever does anywhere.
The employers dont pay for their gas either because they are hired as independent contractors in most cases to get around the federal requirement to pay for mileage of employees while they do work related things.
Many of you people seem to think that because you arent working in the service industry that you are therefor exempt in tipping, the people who work these jobs are usually pretty poor and stiffing them really hurts their bottom lines.
This will most than likely not be believed but I worked as a delivery driver and it sucked, most of the customers were assholes and they few that weren't were usually very kind people.
Now this experience has taught me that not everyone learned the golden rule as a child and later in life it really shows.
What really makes me laugh though is when these same entitled people go out to eat with their families, usually their family knows that the asshole of the group is going to give the server a hard time and they always look uncomfortable.
Its embarrassing to go out with people who act that way.
You can always tell when someone has worked in the service industry no matter how old they are because they will almost always be kinder and more understanding to their servers/delivery drivers, now stop and try to understand why that is.
People dont like being treated like dirt and that is how most people treat service industry workers or drivers, they are still just people trying to get by just like you.

While OP's example may not be the best, the truth is that too much emphasis is placed on tipping in the USA. Everyone just tips 20% so that others don't frown upon them, and those that frown upon them just do it to appear goody goody and they also don't want to be frowned upon.

Motherfuckers still have to WORK for their tip, and at shit tier restaurants like sportsbars, they all seem to have forgot. For example, my friend ordered a coca cola and the waitress brought a sherley temple, how the fuck she went from coke to that IDK, but when he said this isn't what I ordered she made a fit about it n said blah blah, to which he said, I demand your manager now. Manager comes, and with 4 other people as witness he explains and tells the manager that under no circumstances is he leaving a tip to a snooty waitress who made a mistake and instead of acknowledging it she was rude to him. The manager said ok and served us the rest of the time we were there.

I see nothing wrong here, the delivery place does not overload the delivery boys so much as for them to be 10 minutes late, they might cut it short if they hit a chain of red lights but all they have to do is run to your door and be extra courteous, they usually still get a tip even if they faked the fact that they were in a hurry the whole time.

There's no extra cost involved, bro. The amount plus tip is the full amount, and without tip the price will remain the same: 22.50. And you'll still be making up their wages just as much as if you had not tipped because you're being charge the price of the tip anyways, except that now it's not "tip", it's just part of the pizza.
