Also the Defences/Airbase on the Falkland islands are far more modern and capable than those that were originally there.

Because Argentina is a regional power that does influence other countries in South America. All of this talk of the islands being illegally occupied threatens the islands economically as obviously they rely on South American trade more than that of Britain or other continents. The US has never ignored either Chavez or Kim. The US actively tried to overthrow Chavez and has had large-scale conflict plans for Venezuela since the early 2000s.
