I've had the privilege of chatting with and meeting a lot of great people from 4chan over the past 8.5 years, and lost touch with many.
If we used to chat/hang, drop me a line at moot@4chan.org or on AIM at MOOTCHAT. And if we haven't, feel free to say hi.

Introducing /wsg/ - Worksafe GIF

Update: /rs/ - Rapidshares is fixed—sorry for the downtime there. Also I think we've fixed most issues with boards.4chan.org and sys.4chan.org. Keep your fingers crossed!

I've got a question about TV licences

So you have to buy one to get things like BBC right? What's so bad about that? Isn't that just making public channels a voluntary thing and not making everyone pay for public channels, isn't that you want /pol/? You're all about making things voluntary...
>>
Given the worsening of the global economic state and the rising feeling of racism and xenophobia outside major cities in the UK, I feel there still is hope for the future. A tipping point will be reached eventually.
>>
>>3606209

No because they assume you have a TV and send you threatening letters and send license inspectors around to your house to bully you into paying to make them go away.

It's not as easy as just saying "I aint got no TV, innit bruv"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKsUkGEIBck

Short but worth it to illustrate what kind of people you dealing with

>>
>>3606209
You have to have a TV license if you have anything with a screen that can access the internet in your household.
This includes iPhones or such... you have to pay it even if you don't watch TV, and who would want to now anyway? I genuinely stopped watching TV 5 Years ago when all I saw was dancing competitions and talent shows, there is nothing left besides that and your daily propaganda update.
>>3606190
Yeah pretty much, I'm going to ride the free education though and see if I can escape before it's too late.
>>3606226
Ahahahaha, no, I don't think you understand how things work here, we don't change at all, we move out. The people left here will be the ones too poor to escape the country, and too hopeless to make a difference.
>>
>>3606294
I bought my nerf gun in Morrisons, with my younger brother next to me.

I see them everywhere, they're not even restricted or anything. Its probably some shitty shops misunderstanding of the law. Probably ASDA, the shittiest supermarket.
>>
>>3606209

If you have a TV you MUST pay the tv licence, if you don't they will threaten and intimidate you into paying it. It rarely ever actually gets to court if you don't pay up.
>>
>>3606313

>you have to have a TV license if you have anything with a screen that can access the internet in your household.

Less propaganda you cokehead whore a license is only required to watch LIVE television as it is broadcast.

Keep smoking that cock you paid slut.
>>
>>3606316

Not without ID you didn't, bruv
>>
>>3606313

There's also cooking shows in countries that actually have food culture.

Trolololo.
>>
Airstrip One is unrecoverable. Its future is decided for it — a boot stomping on a human face, forever.
>>
>>3606341

Which you can't prove that you don't, so you're obligated to pay.
>>
>>3606209
If you don't have a TV, you don't need a licence. The company that administers it sends out forms for you to get a licence, and includes a box you can tick for "I don't have a TV". The problem is that their response which should say "Thanks, we'll stop bothering you now" actually says "We don't believe you, now pay up."

I pity your country OP.
I visited england many years ago as a kid. Nice people and you have much culture.
Its sad to see how much this has gone downhill the last years.

Im just 25 and can already see how bad it has become.
Here in austria its at least a little bit better, even though we have the same problems regarding foreigners and surveillance.

But I think the problem lies much deeper.
Through propaganda of the elite people stopped believing in everything.
Family, Country, Religion, Friends. Most people dont even believe in themself.

No wonder that moral turned into an insult and that violence is starting. People have nothing to loose.
The only thing keeping them quiet is entertainment.

We live in bad times. Whoever is in control must be laughing his ass off right now..

Wrote way more than I wanted. Excuse my shitty english.

Surveillance cameras aren't too abundant once you get out of major cities, it's only really in London where everything you do is seen. The real problem is the development of internet surveillance. It is this that truly worries me. People seem all too happy to divulge all of their personal information to facebook and google etc and don't worry about what they will do with it all or how it could be used against them.

It's like every day I open my comp. the world is becoming less and less free. The elites have nothing better to do than to shit on everything right and good about the world.Everything bad thing we heard about their intentions seems to be true, they will not stop until we are all slaves, they've been eroding at our liberties for centuries now and it seems nothing is going to stop them.

Continental swine here OP

Your little island is fucked beyond repair I think. At least in mainland Europe we try and fight off the islam bullshit (although they just keep coming) BUT we don't bend over like a prison bitch.

You can't buy knives under 18, CCTV everywhere, you can't say something crass on Twitter or you get jailed, you can't say anything about muslims because then you are a racist and should be jailed etc etc

What the fuck Britain? I visited your country about 10 years ago and again last year, so much has changed, for the worse. Not to mention that your country has the biggest assholes for cops I have ever encountered in my life. They try and nail you for about anything they can, I'd spit on them if it wouldn't get me jailed for 12 years.

The problem is, they essentially become public cameras because the authorities can obtain footage from them at any time they wish.

Though, TBH, I never understood the big deal about CCTV. The only thing that makes it really problematic is citizens don't have access to the feeds. If the UK government set up a site where anyone could watch and download streams of the cameras, so the police couldn't tamper with them, I'd be okay with it.

Why do you want to claim right to privacy in a public space, exactly? The cameras are basically on-the-beat police officers that can't tell lies to a court. Surely that's an IMPROVEMENT?

This kind of post makes me the maddest, people trying to find a way to play it down so it doesn't embarrass them that they're living in a police state.

Seriously, we already know how bad things are, you don't need to try to defend them.

Pakistan is in Asia - South Asia to be specific. Calling them Asians is accurate, if not the most informative term available. It's not an attempt to conflate Pakistanis with the Chinese or Indians any such nonsense. It was used to include the fact that one of the men was Afghani, which is also in South Asia.
