Socialism = Poverty.Contrary to what collectivists try to tell you socialism is not about workers' rights. It has nothing to do with equality. Socialism is not a philosophy designed to help the poor. Socialism is state ownership of the means of production. Think about that for a moment. Some people like beef. Some people like pork. Some land is better suited to dairy, some to growing crops. By what mechanism does the state determine which land should be allocated to producing beef and which pork? How does the state determine how much wheat or how many potatoes should be grown each year? What about distribution, how do the crops get from the fields to the kitchen?Hundreds of thousands of bureaucrats would be needed to centrally plan just the production and distribution of food. And if the state got it wrong people would go hungry, which is a regular occurence in socialist states. Socialism does not work and can not work.
>>3327019As much as I dislike socialism, using the example of a country under an economic embargo for decades is hardly fair.
>>3327019What if the US hadn't imposed an embargo during all these years ?
Free markets = prosperity.Commerce is led by its own interests to study the seasons, to give daily statements of the state of the crops, to receive information from every part of the globe, to foresee wants, to take precautions beforehand. It has vessels always ready, correspondents everywhere; and it is its immediate interest to buy at the lowest possible price, to economize in all the details of its operations, and to attain the greatest results by the smallest efforts.
>>3327048>Free markets = prosperity. The real question we should be asking is: "But for who?"
The social security problemThe farm problemThe unemployment problemThe housing problemThe transportation problemThe school problemThe medicare problemThe poverty problemThe population problemThe slum problemThe conservation problem

>>3327079Overall living standards improve when people are allowed to improve their lives. Living standards get worse when people are prevented from improving their lives.
yea because socialism has really ruined northern europe
>>3327079And for what? The United States use their loads of money to buy burgers. Meanwhile, Cuba, compared to his relative poverty, is very well ranked on HDI, education and health.
>cuba >socialismThen it is fair game to claim that Somalia has free markets
>>3327108This guy knows whats up.
>>3327138What type of government is Cuba? There is a clue on this page, under government.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CubaSomalia started from a very low base, due to a couple of decades of socialism. As is common the system eventually collapsed into complete chaos. That I will grant you. But people's lives are slowly improving. That just shows the strength of freedom.
>Overall living standards improve when people are allowed to improve their lives.> Living standards get worse when people are prevented from improving their lives.prevented by their education? or maybe because they were born into complete poverty?
fuck off capitalist pig kikeif you help someone out at their lowest they might be able to turn their life around and go on to be a productive member of society. in the united states and other hard capitalist states the jewfuck banks leach onto poor people like a loan shark on a gambling addict. the debtor never recovers, society loses a productive person, and vulture capitalist banks gain more money and power to buy off politicians. to the guillotine with this traitor.
>>3327181Socialism actively prevents people from improving their lives. If you notice a glut of wheat and want to brew beer with it the state will stop you. Why? Because only state bureaucrats are allowed to produce.
>>3327191Socialism has nothing to do with helping the poor. Socialism is about collective ownership of the means of production. Furthermore, aid for the poor has always existed, in one form or another.
>refer to mixed economy success as capitalism>refer to mixed economy faults as socialismplay lassy, broll mead.
>>3327172Different kinds of socialism just like there are different kinds of capitalismWhat they had was state capitalism which is the worst system. Nowadays what socialism means is private ownership coupled with redistributive government policies, and this works - look at Canada and Europe
