On Sunday we rolled out new HTML for 4chan's imageboards. The new code validates HTML5/CSS3, the design should appear exactly the same, pages should load slightly faster (especially long threads), and extension/user script/archive developers should have a much easier job parsing our pages. This is the first time in approximately ten years that it has been updated.

If you are using an extension or app that has not been updated for the changes, some features may not work—you will need to wait for the developer to update their extension/app to be compatible with the new HTML. If you haven't downloaded it already, try the Official 4chan Chrome Extension.

The most significant changes with the new HTML are a new mobile-optimized layout for phones, and inline extension features. Check them out by clicking [Settings] in the upper-right (make sure you don't select features that conflict with those from an extension though), or visit 4chan from your phone!

We are still working through a few bugs with the new code. Please report any bugs you find to newhtml@4chan.org.

Dear god, I know I don't come to you often enough and I don't ask you for much but I come to you with this one request. God, please kill each and every Occupy protester, everyone who agrees with the Occupy movement, and everyone who thinks Occupy is a good idea. Please god, make this world a better place. Thank you. Amen.

They just don't do anything constructive, that's all.

>>
Hey OP if you're so mad at the Occupy Movement why don't you actually do something about instead of being a basement conservative?

Go out there and tell them to fuck off. Start your own movement called the Move Along movement or something, get some people together and go protest the protest.

What's that? Oh you're a shill with absolutely no backbone whatsoever who'd rather get fat from posting his opinions on an anonymous board while eating McDonald's?

Well that's your fault I guess. Or maybe it's the Jews and the Blacks fault. Who knows anymore!
>>
I don't know if the people posting in support of the Occupy fags are being ironic or not. I'm not anywhere near conservative but even I can see that the protests are nothing more than a bunch of college kids out trying to be edgy.

They don't have any specific demands and the 99% thing is pretty fucking gay. I'm not sure who's handling their media postings but thats shit too. It's like a hippie jamboree and nobody takes them seriously at all.

I don't know, if they were a little bit more presentable and had a clear goal I might be convinced that they weren't just playing at protesting and maybe actually trying to achieve something worthwhile but as it is whenever I see them I can't help think they are trying to give their lives some meaning. Could it be that the Occupiers just have meaningless lives?

>>
>>3241452
I think Occupy is interesting as a physical adaptation of the Anonymous thing. It becomes a sort of open-source, generic protest model.

The actual uses to which it's been put are wholesale RETARDED. But the idea of "we're mad about X, everybody go there and camp out and refuse to leave and videotape the shit out of everything" is actually an acceptable methodology.

It's sort of like Black Bloc in that it's not a GROUP with a MESSAGE and a POINT, it's just an approach or tool for demonstrations.

Occupy becomes marginally easier to understand when you stop thinking about it as a failed attempt at a formal protest movement (even if that's what it is) and start looking at it as the cultural phenomenon it's become.

You could have a bunch of hardcore Paulbots go and Occupy the federal reserve bank and use the 99%/1% symbology for that message.

It's not a political platform so much as a schematic for building one.

I dont know where this impression comes from either, I went down there prepared to defend the free market and while the usual suspect were hanging about most of the people I spoke to were fairly free market.

Those people's major issue was with banks and upper management of large corporations, which, interestingly enough, are the 1%.

But they're not serious, so that's never going to fucking happen.
>>
>>3241584

So what you're saying is that the Occupy Movement actually works no?

If you're bothered so much by them doesn't it mean it's kinda working a little?
>>
>>3241490

Like I said I have no interest in joining protests which seem to have no point or a clear message. Plus I'm already focusing on ways of trying to improve my life and the lives of the people around me as well as gaining a measure of power both in a political sense and a financial sense as well.

The Occupy protests are a mess and not something which I want to be associated with. I mean at it's core these protests are about power, like most other protests, except the Occupiers have no clear idea about what kind of power they want and how they are going to use it when they get it.

It's just fucking frustrating.

The only media giving them much attention is RT, and that hardly "mainstream" so your definition of "FACT" is clearly bogus and your entire point of view needs reassessing.

as for;
>If they meant shit, they would all camp outside of a congressional building or the white house and not leave until a meeting is agreed up by the powers that be and reps from the Occupy Movement
They have no representatives or demand as the faggot OP points out. Who would the congressman meet with? And what would they discuss?

Not everyone has the opportunity.
I've been expelled from every school I've been in for being "too weird" and a "social disturbance" because I ask questions about social norms and whether they're helpful or harmful.
I've lost jobs because I wouldn't join in on co-worker bullying.
I also grew up in the foster care system where I was choked, pushed down stairs and medicated till my tongue was literally hanging out of my mouth.
Many people are targeted by sociopathic authority figures and peer bulling.
All people do in fact, not have an equal chance to be part of the 1%.
Not even if I went along with everything was I going to be left alone.

>>3241648
I think its false to compare the hippy movement of the 60s to the occupy movement of today. The Hippy movement was boomers trying to have sex with each other. The occupy movement is anger at the promises of capitalism not being kept.

I dont know about you but I grew up hearing about how we will all have opportunities and the world will be brighter and free of tyranny, this was what we were promised by the boomers, but the reality is they kept it all for themselves, they used up as much of the worlds resources as they could, then they legislated all the opportunities shut behind them.

And they upped the minimum investment requirements on everything so the bottom rung is always just beyond reach.

We got screwed.
>>
>>3241734
Only stupid people get angry because obvious fairy tales end up not being true.
>>
>>3241674

this.

Economic science is an oxymoron... it's not scientific. Half the time its impossible to established a causal link between phenomena and the "state" of the economy (which in itself is always different, depending on what criteria is used.)

There are some very obvious problems that they are pointing out with our current system, though... and I fail to see anyone provide a rational explanation as to why having bought politicians is a good thing, or how cutting all social services before touching "defense" spending is a good thing, or how giving a total of $15 trillion to the people responsible for dicking over the economy last time is a good thing.

I'm uncertain why nobody cares about any of these things when looking or hearing about the Occupy protests, and are intsead more concerned with what they're wearing, what they look like, and what small pieces of technology they possess.

>>
>>3241775
>Implying he isn't the degenerate

See >>3241779
>>
>>3241648
Sure, in the general sense it absolutely has.

I'm referring to the symbology.

Occupy [location relevant to complaint]
99% [the good guys who there are lots of]
1% [the power elite we're mad at]

No official message, no official goals. Just show up and be pissed. Stay as long as you can and create an adhocracy that tries to manage it.

It's a socially distinct mode of operation for a protest. It's not a march or a sit-in or a rally.

If the Tea Party types ever occupied something, you'd see my point. They could Pccupy the welfare offices and try to make it difficult to collect welfare checks. As I said, you could Occupy the Federal Reserve Bank. You could Occupy the FDA's offices.

Why should 99% of the farmers be beholden to 1% of the agribusiness interests? #OccupyFDA

And they could set up mobile gardens and farmers' markets to show that they can circulate safe, healthy food without onerous regulations.

It's functional for a wide variety of causes as long as 1) they're angry at a perceived ruling elite's actions towards the general public and 2) the people involved are interested in showcasing their ability to function without said elite.

They weren't fairly tales, they were the implicit and sometime explicit promises made to young people by the older generation. This is supposed to be the "end of history", where everything is supposed to be perfect and we are all supposed be able to do whatever we like.

Instead its we can do whatever we like provided we like working at shitful jobs where a boomer takes all the profit and can fire as at a moments notice with no access to credit and a mile of red tape to do anything.

On top of that people who do have access to credit can inflate the money supply on top of us so the things we buy get more expensive while our wages (if we are lucky enough to get any) decline.

This is not the dream of liberal capitalism I was sold.

Take the bail out of the banks, instead of someone new getting the opportunity to start their own bank, the big banks get to keep their position. The same is true in every industry in a dozen different ways, the government is always there to protect the boomers who already have all the good jobs, and keep the young working for minimum wage. It costs a million dollars just to buy a taxi license for fucks sake.

>>3241765

Those are good points but that is what the Occupy movement should be doing, making it easier for people to understand the financial system and providing possible solutions to these problems. Instead most of what I've read or seen is people wandering around with signs saying 'I'm the 99%!' which is just fucking ridiculous. What the fuck does that even mean? Are you making it an us vs them thing? Are you saying that we should ostracise and hate the 1%? What kind of fucked up message is that? The 1% are still people, rich people and the ones that control the system, but they are still people and you have to try and engage those people rather than treat them as a problem that should be eliminated.

And image is always important for a movement or organisation and the Occupiers image sucks hard. People are always judging by first impressions and the first impression that most people get when they see an occupier is hipster college kid pretending to rough it.

It's a concise slogan that sums up the occupiers' primary concern: the vast and growing inequality in American society and the disproportionate power of a tiny elite. Nobody suggested the rich aren't people. All your objections are such nitpicking bullshit, it's honestly making me pretty peeved that someone who's apparently sympathetic to the general philosophy of this movement has bought so fully into the 'ugh, hipster' narrative.
