On Sunday we rolled out new HTML for 4chan's imageboards. The new code validates HTML5/CSS3, the design should appear exactly the same, pages should load slightly faster (especially long threads), and extension/user script/archive developers should have a much easier job parsing our pages. This is the first time in approximately ten years that it has been updated.

If you are using an extension or app that has not been updated for the changes, some features may not work—you will need to wait for the developer to update their extension/app to be compatible with the new HTML. If you haven't downloaded it already, try the Official 4chan Chrome Extension.

The most significant changes with the new HTML are a new mobile-optimized layout for phones, and inline extension features. Check them out by clicking [Settings] in the upper-right (make sure you don't select features that conflict with those from an extension though), or visit 4chan from your phone!

We are still working through a few bugs with the new code. Please report any bugs you find to newhtml@4chan.org.

What is the final solution to the NEET problem?
>>
None of the government's business. Their parents have to deal with them and make the tough decisions

>tfw my brother has been a NEET for almost 2 years and it infuriates me to see my parents not give a shit
>>
Apparently "Young" means 25-45?

Ending welfare, enforcing some kind of esprit de corps in every field of employment, demonizing the unemployed as ursurpers.
>>
the free market
>>
abolish feminism and kill babyboomers.
>>
Their fate is in their own hands.
If their entrepreneurial spirit can't dig them out of their hole, it's no-one else's responsibility to help them.
They are free individuals, with all the liberties and self-sufficiency that requires.

Austerity

>>
The abolition of work.

I'd rather be homeless begging than be a NEET. How the hell can you consider yourself an adult if you actually don't try to get employment/education in that part of your life? I've had a job since I was 14. I can't imagine being some lazy fuck who didn't do at least college.
>>
Death camps.
>>
Education for what faggots? Jobs that are rapidly disappearing? There are tons of countries where the young people are overly educated and just can't get jobs. Education isn't going to magically bring jobs back
>>
Wasn't there a show about this?

Do I get the phone with the ¥10,000,000,000?
>>
Post scarcity by automation. The unemployment problem is itself symptomatic of increasing automation, although of course the housing bubble played the larger part.

As robots only become more capable and affordable over time, inevitably we'll reach a point where there are more people than jobs that haven't been automated.
>>
NEETs come about due to the absence of a competent father.
>>
What?!

No! Its the Neet solution! God damnit, keep them out of education. There are far too many pressures to get degrees and shit and not enough pressure to really learn anything.

Keep the youth out of education.

Regarding employment. I always thought that was a poor metric. Given freedom, people will find something good to do. Employment doesnt imply that people are doing anything good, it just implies they got a job. A job they might hate, or a a job that might result in great badness.

>Post scarcity by automation. The unemployment problem is itself symptomatic of increasing automation, although of course the housing bubble played the larger part.

Unemployment was caused by the banking industry's wedding to the housing industry and to the government. Automation has played no part. And post-scarcity is a myth. Scarcity has and always will be the fundamental problem of economics for the foreseeable future.
>>
>>3233617
If that were the case they would not outsource jobs
>>
>>3233582
Better to be educated and unemployed than some shiftless slack-jawed slacker with nothing to show for your miserable life.
>>
>>3233637
how is post-scarcity a myth?
>>
NEET is the future for most of the population, as labor jobs become more automated or shipped overseas, there is just not enough work for everyone.
>>
>>3233668

Because all resources on planet earth are finite in number at any given moment in time. Asking me how it's not a myth is like asking how flying horses aren't a myth. It just does not exist anywhere.
>>
>>3233668
>supply can ever exceed demand

supply is constant (law of conservation of matter/energy), people always demand more and more.

Thankfully due to efficiency, scarcity continually gets less but it will never ever cease to exist.

First, we cancel the F-35. We don't buy crews either. Then we introduce conscription. Not only do we solve our defence problems but also our unemployment problems.

It would give young people something to do. We teach them trades, skills, might even teach them to read. The Army never discharged someone who's illiterate - we could make them wash. Give our young people a comprehensive education to make up for their comprehensive education.

With one policy we solve our defence, education and unemployment problems.
>>
>>3233637

It is foolish and obviously wrong to say that automation has played no part in rising unemployment. You mentiones the housing bubble but I already conceded that it played the larger part.

Many aren't up to speed on how far automation has come. It isn't just dumb robot arms performing canned routines in automotive assembly plants anymore. There are wholly automated dairy farms. Robotic harvesters. Automated assembly of small electronics. Meat packing, quality control and pick n pack jobs are now largely automated. Ever ordered anything from Amazon? Your item was fetched from the warehouse for shipping by a Kiva corporation warehouse robot.
>>
>>3233689

You are taking post-scarcity too literally. It does not mean resources become infinite. It means provision by automation such that there are no shortages and no poverty/homelessness/starvation.
>>
Good to see that sensible and even-handed debate remains an essential characteristic of the 4chan community.

Evidence.

>You are taking post-scarcity too literally. It does not mean resources become infinite. It means provision by automation such that there are no shortages and no poverty/homelessness/starvation.

Automation has never prevented shortages and poverty and probably never will for the foreseeable future. By saying the word isn't to be taken literally, I'm inclined to believe that is an obscurantist word from continental "philosophy."

I have to agree. I spent a year as a NEET and my father died when I was 12. Finally got back into college with a lot of pushing from my mother.

AKA requires companies to treat workers like human beings and not pay them 10 cents an hour, 60 hours a week.

The false prophets of the NWO are trying to harvest all my slack to feed the insatiable maws of the Elder Gods. I won't stand for it. GIVE ME SLACK OR GIVE ME DEATH.

Maybe if the liberal hand-wringing bleeding hearts would stop referring to Social Links as "white privilege" and coerce businesses to give jobs to unperforming women and apes i might give a shit. but seriously, lodging thousands of job applications in an economy where job creation doesn't even match the pace of people entering the workforce, where the corrupt criminal jew corporate businessmen nowadays expect you to hold a Master's degree and 10 years working in the industry just to flip a goddamn burger (that is unless you're Mr. Solly Goldblatt's little nephew, in which case they'll hire you on at a 6-figure starter salary and then blame it on YOUR white privilege and it doesn't even matter if you can't run a business because the Fed will just print more money to fail you out)?

To be a NEET means that you are free, unlike the slaves who will run through an eternal rat-race that has no exit besides death.

Moar apprenticeships and job-specific training.

1 year of mandatory volunteer to work on community projects for those not in school, or working a job.

Kill your soul and any hope of ever being happy. Once you are completely devoid of happiness and comfort you are now the ideal worker. You will accept any wage and any schedule because you do not deserve better. You will not be distracted because there is nothing else you would rather be doing. You are a soulless automaton, you work and that is it.

I saw my brother fall into this trap. He signed on for a "summer job" that started in March, while he was still taking classes. He spends all his waking hours in class or working. He hasn't done a thing for his own personal enjoyment in months. I can't even talk to him anymore because he no longer values things that can't be turned toward the purpose of work. When he eats with the family he's constantly going over papers in his binder and texting his bosses, but more often he just packs up the food and leaves without a word.

Work turned my brother into a zombie. That's the sort of person you need to be.

An excellent description of how government investments in military long-shots and exploration are what provide both the motivation and the jobs/tech to solve NEET.

When jobs were in America it was because only Americans could accomplish them, China hadn't the slightest fucking clue how to build anything the US had, so they couldn't build it cheaper. The youth grew up thinking everything was going to get better and more advanced instead of posting on /pol/ about how it's going to shit and get ready for anarchy. If you want to abolish NEET double NASA's budget, take the cost out of crappy welfare programs and stop allowing people be uninspired.

Youth today aren't doomed and they are no more or less lazy than anybody else, that's just a center-of-the-universe complex. They're just born after the Earth and Moon have been explored and before we reach the stars. Born when wars are fought on TV and Youtube. Born when revolutions are done just for show and born when fighting for something means making a fucking infographic and clicking a 'like' button.

You want NEET solved? Get into a space race, modernize the GI bill and recruitment initiatives, and take the money paying for Sheniqwa's weave and throw it into basic science education.

> People will always be lazy; but an inspired, lazy unemployed person will find something to keep them busy. An uninspired, lazy unemployed person is societal deadweight.
