Not really. French is not mandatory past grade 9. From then on you don't really need a language. The majority of my highschool took Mandarin instead. In fact, we don't even really enforce learning a national language all that much period. I've worked with people whose command over the English language is less then that of a grade 3. People just learn "enough" to get through. Then ditch it as soon as possible for their own language. We promote multiculturalism, but what has happened is that instead we have segregated ourselves into our own ethnic communities.

Seriously. I never encountered an instance in which a professor or anyone else was trying to blatantly push an agenda. I was certain that I'd come across some subtle propaganda somewhere... but nope.

We have a large Hmong community in my city. Other than than, it's almost entirely whites. When I was in college, one specific Written Communications teacher added volunteer work for a local Hmong youth group to her curriculum. We were quite literally required to take time out of our schedule to involuntarily volunteer for this group or we would fail the class. Considering I had a full time job with full time school, I didn't have the time for this shit. Nothing against the community or the youth group, but I should not be forced to work for a cultural group for an English class. I requested a transfer immediately and got another teacher.

For me the leftist professors weren't even the worst part of college. The women's center/minority center/lgbt center/etc workers and the hipster students were far worse.

In high school we were offered a class in women's studies. I was really into equality at the time and thought it would be a great way to show off my sensitive side and get laid by the granola girls.

Oooooh boy. The misandry going on in that classroom was like a female version of /r9k/, and every class was the teacher getting the girls riled up about some perceived injustice, Nuremberg-assembly-like fervor over for example how wrong it is that women are invisible in history books (and why is it called his story anyway?) and then finally me as the lone male in the class being expected to take the role of the bad guy in the following discussion. And I'm not very smart, so I often tried to call them out on what I saw as bullshit.

Five weeks I stayed in that class. Again, not very smart. Fuck women's studies.

To echo, my College I used to go to, had its women's studies classes as full of angry man-hating 40 yr old divorcees, those mid 30 something fat chicks, young radical lesbians, empowered idiots, and male apologists. Gave the class a go one semester. Dropped it pretty quickly. The entire thing was like Andrea Dworkin/Feministing love the class, with a little bit of sit around and talk about how we as women (men are ignored) overcome adversity/patriarchy, share some personal experiences/examples and then everyone praises them for being "so strong" or "sticking it" to the man. Waste of a course in my opinion.
