    >Earlier this year, strong public opposition led by several prominent websites forced Congressional leaders to cancel votes on two bills known in Washington as “SOPA” and “PIPA.” Both of these bills threatened search engines and websites with possible shutdowns if the Justice Department deemed them insufficiently cooperative with our phony “war on terror,” or if they were merely accused of copyright infringement. Fortunately the American public flooded Capitol Hill with phone calls and Congressional leaders dropped both bills.

    >But we should never underestimate the federal government’s insatiable desire to control the internet. Statists of all parties, persuasions, and nationalities hate the free, unbridled flow of information, ideas, and goods via the internet. They resent the notion that ordinary people can communicate and trade across the world without government filters or approvals. So they continually seek to impose controls, always under the guise of fighting terrorism or protecting “intellectual property” rights.

We have not had new oil production in this country (on federal land) or new refineries built in decades. Our refining capacity, for a lack of a better phrase, is FUCKED.

Obama lauds the idea of ending our addiction to foreign oil, but does nothing but continue to INVEST in it (see: Brazil), He attacks "big oil" as does every ignorant liberal because he really does not know what he's talking about, and I do think he's an idiot. I really do.

This is something they won't tell you: oil companies make approximately 8 cents for every dollar of gas sold. The federal government makes BILLIONS off of taxing them (45% tax rate from state and federal corporate taxes between the 70s and this decade) They paid $518 billion. That's immense. Big oil doesn't profit from oil. The government does.

The EPA constantly prevents drilling in federal land, meanwhile gas is rising, we're investing more and more in foreign oil, and there's no end in sight.

And oil isn't just used for cars. It's used for a multitude of goods and materials.

This entire thread gives me no hope for our country.

We can't even agree on who passed certain legislation, (when everything is fucking documented and only a click of a button away) much less which candidate to support for reasons that may not even be true in and of themselves.

Christ, you guys. We need to pull our shit together.
