Really? This is an acceptable show for Hollywood?

What if I made a show about the the inner workings of the synagogue in New York City entitled GHJ. Greedy Hasidic Jews?

Would that be anti-Semitic or wrong?

Oh, I know maybe FVM. Friendly Violent Muslims. The season finale can be where a father honor kills his daughter because she texted a boy. Would that be wrong?

This is an insane double standard.

ABC found itself contacted by many Christian and Christian organizations for the original title of the series, Good Christian Bitches. Some Christians and Christian organizations believe the name as well as the show is demeaning toward Christianity, while some advocates for women found it problematic to use the word "bitches" to refer to women.[25] Word of the name change came along with ABC's announcement that it had ordered the series.[26] The series then was renamed to "Good Christian Belles" which appeared in several promos before the final renaming to the acronymic "GCB".[27] Several ABC affiliates in Texas and other states in the Bible Belt threatened to not air the show if the name wasn't changed.

And some use it for networking, some go to church to find a husband or a wife, etc. I know a lot of people who say they are catholic and Christian and will not only stand by as another of their own is attacked, they will join in and help murder the guy to save themselves. Remind them of things in their Bible and they get angry and attack you further. I'd rather have them say they were anything other than Christian, catholic of a Jew hiding in his bunker rather than be the national embarrassments they are to their faith.

Sissy-angsty behavior aside, it's actually a decent question. Jesus said about Christians being the light of the world, and also being salt. If you hide that candle how can the light shine? if salt has lost its flavor it's worthless. When I screw up, and I do screw up I have shame over it- repent and so forth. I'm not perfect, but the point is I would never go out and tell people that the sin I committed is now an alternative lifestyle and it's time to start persecuting others who don't violate the word of God that they supposedly believe in.
I know Christians and people who say they are "catholic" right now that have joined hands to commit murder to cover up them stalking the very person they stalked. They did horrible things- unimaginable things, and to this moment mock that person and say there is nothing they can do to prove what evils they committed. Now these are Christians and some Jews- people who say they love God, but they violate some of the most basic tenants of their faith, and yet you wonder why intelligent, thinking people who want to know the truth won't believe in God because of people like them?
There is a standard God has, and then there is the standard man has, and when people who swear they love God choose man's standard, they chose a different master rather than be legit. That's how you get fake Christians, fake catlicks, and fake Jews. They're everywhere.

The scriptures in both the Old and New Testament that specifically say that if you see your brother sin you should say something to them. There's one entire section where you go them alone and try to reason things out, and if that fails get some help, and if that fails bring them before the church. The very concept of saying some behavior is wrong is judging, no?
Liberals love that "don't judge" scripture as long as you don't finish it. "Judge not lest ye be judged, for with the same measure you mete, it shall be measured back to you." So if I'm worried about my so-called brother-in-Christ and see him do something and tell them, I'm wrong by your standards now? If I was screwing up it would be the utmost sign of brotherly love for him to risk me throwing a liberal tantrum by telling me or reminding me of falling short of the mark of God.
When Jesus said to the chick caught in adultery, "Go and sin no more," saying what she was doing is judging that act, ne? Telling her to stop doing what she had been doing was judging, ne?
I believe there is an Old Testament passage that says you will be held responsible if you don't tell your fellow in faith about something they are up to- especially if its a sin leading to death.
You picked a bad time to come to /pol/, buddy.
The people I mentioned never told the person they stalked DIRECTLY that they were stalking him- no, they tried to push him to commit crimes or commit suicide like good Christians and Jews hiding in a bunker should. Should not long running attempted murder be judged? I R CONFUS.

Or how in NY 80+ rabbis were arrested for molesting kids. You'll never hear about that in a tv or movie, although there's the movie Doubt and plenty of other material about preists molesting kids, b/c of mesirah.

I'm not a Christian, I just don't agree with unfairly discriminating against "Christians". We need to start calling out the rest of these sick, pedophiliac, murdering, Nazi rapists that are religious people today.

There are a minority of religious people that are good, but a minority they are. They're the ones that actually do good things because they're good people, and would do regardless of religion. The Christian who does charity work, loves people regardless of who they are, and tries to do their best for mankind, is a great person. They don't use the faith they claim to excuse any bad things they do, because they know that while they try to be a good person,

The majority of religious people are just hateful, backward idiots at best, and liars pushing another agenda at worst. They use their claimed religion as a shield against personal criticism of their own evil. Examples include Adolf Hitler, the Pope, Ian Paisley, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, the Israeli government, Zionists, fundamentalist Islamists, and many others.

1 - praying TO someone is different than asking someone to pray FOR someone. Praying to a person who you bear false witness by saying she's still a virgin when she had kids after Christ is a major triple no-no. Why pray to someone who's already dead when you can learn what God wants for your life b you know, reading the Word and praying yourself?
2 - So when I mentioned the fact that catholics make up rules your response is a random scripture? That's nuts. Sorry, but that's nuts. I could go into telling priests they can't marry, the little cloth phone booth of forgiveness, etc, but your response was nuts.
3 - God put them in charge? Then why are they making crap up. If God is clear with His intentions, they are failing their supposed charge by MAKING CRAP UP. That is open rebellion to God's will.
4 - I thought Martin Luther was persecuted because he went against the catlick church and was locked up for a while. I'll be glad to be corrected on this one.

    A) Stop with the liberal media conspiracy thing. If a show is successful/gets ratings, they'll air it. If it fails, then they won't. You want to argue over what values are being spread through TV, then argue over what you support.
    B) also not every liberal hates Christians and, you know, some are Christian.
    >You wouldn't see this with Jews/Muslims
    A) Who would the target audience be? Everyone in America knows what Christianity is and, roughly, what it's about; can you say the same about any other religion here? No one would watch it because no one would get it.
    B) Death threats. At least most Christians seem tolerant, but you couldn't get away with a show making fun of Islam. It wouldn't happen.

2b. now you're just rambling. why would priests marry, didnt jesus tell his apostles to give up all worldly things and come follow him? what exactly is the problem with talking to someone about your sins? it's a fairly standard practice since the very start of the christian faith.

Jos and surrounding Plateau state have been torn apart in recent years by violence pitting its different ethnic groups and major religions—Christianity and Islam—against each other. Human Rights Watch says at least 1,000 people were killed in communal clashes around Jos in 2010.

The violence, though fractured across religious lines, often has more to do with local politics, economics and rights to grazing lands. Muslims in the city also say they are locked out of lucrative jobs in the region as the Christian-led state government doesn't recognize them as citizens.

The Catholic church attack also comes after a failed raid Thursday by British and Nigerian commandos left a Briton and an Italian hostage dead in Nigeria's far northwest. British officials have blamed a splinter cell of Boko Haram for the attack, something a spokesman for the group has denied.

1 - Ara~ You mean when the scriptures repeatedly point out Jesus' brothers and sisters? And why does the Bible point out that "every knee shall bow" to Jesus, but you bow to Mary? You by any chance remember the passage where a demonized King Saul went nuts and asked for a seance to talk to Samuel, and it went bad on him?
2 - I hate catholicism so damn much. That scripture did not give anyone license to go against things God put in place. Why does it say deacons and pastors and such can get married, and why does the New Testament repeatedly note that to keep from having lack of self-control let men marry? You put a burden on men that God Himself said not to put on man.
3 - Yes, yes they are making crap up. Cloth phone booths to confess your sins rather than the New Testament scripture that says to pray to God yourself? Ara~
4 - Wait, so a restriction God didn't put on women- this nun-crap, he stood up against because Martin knew it was okay for them to marry got him the title of nut job? Wow- if I was atheist crap like this would really amke me want to join the church and give my life to virgin-never-had-sex-after-giving-birth-to-Christ Mary.

    1. it doesnt. it does point out that he has many relatives and that some chick named mary had some kids however theres no indication that she is the same mary as there are multiple mary's in the gospel and when they refer to his mother they have this habit of saying mary mother of jesus. also this is not just a belief held by catholics but professed by Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli.
since when is summoning the dead back to earth the same as attempting to send them a message? oh that's right it isnt. also saul was pretty SOL by that point and everything he did was going bad for him.

    2. im glad you're a christian that's full of hate, that seems so telling about your belief system.
"Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." so what exactly does this mean if it's not telling peter that he'll uphold whatever he says on earth?
    >You put a burden on men that God Himself said not to put on man
you seem to be confusing god and paul.
3.mm nope. confession has been pretty standard since the time of jesus and then the apostles took over doing it.
    4. no martin wanted to get married and he thought he could interpret the bible better then the people god put in charge, so he flipped out and decided to start his own church. the fact that he arbitrarily decided to start his own church because he felt like it means that all churches are worthless as anyone can just start one and change whatever they feel like if they dont agree with what the bible says.

Do you not understand what your own church teaches? The doctrine says that when the pope officially declares dogmatic teaching of faith and morals it is infallible. Faith and morals isn't a very specific category and the link that was already provided shows contradictions in the teachings of faith and morals. Even if what you said was true, the pope is only always right about something very specific and very limited? Smells like bullshit to me. You aren't making a very good case for your church.

ITT: We go from talking about GCB to the nature of Papal Infallibility.

Guys, Papal infallibility (like most things Catholic) is nuanced as hell. Papal statements are 'infalliable' only when he is speaking ex-cathedra. If the Pope says "The Sky is Green" that doesn't make it so. Popes can and have been wrong when making their personal statements which is the majority of what they do. When it comes to something like say the Immaculate Conception (A classic example of the use of Papal infallibility) then yes, it's dogmatic. Note that the Pope has to be speaking 'ex-cathedra'. Now if for example the Pope was to say "The Eucharist doesn't contain the real presence" he'd be wrong because the Sacraments "come directly from Christ and his apostles" which the Church as an institution has no right to change or modify their validity (only further define, like say Transubstantiation)
