    "The Days of Churchill"

Firearms, bladed weapons and cudgels have always been interdicted for the common man old chap. Only a small band of the ruling class has ever had access to such things.

We've certainly never had any ridiculous 'wild west' periods like our more junior colonies.

You need to be a member of the UKARA to purchase Airsoft weapons which are in the original colours, that is, the colours of the real firearm.
Without a license you are free to purchase airsoft, but it must be in non replica colours, usually blue, orange, clear, or green.

Alright sandmonkey, I didn't say that you couldn't get guns, I said you couldn't get shit that was remotely fun to shoot. Enjoy your shitty single shot bolt actions that you can't use to defend yourself otherwise you go to prison for life for premeditated murder.

    >silverware, pocketknives, baseball bats, nerf guns, etc.
I think you're joking because none of these are banned.
You can't carry a knife on you legally, you have to be 18 to buy nerf guns and silverware as pics in this thread demonstrate, baseball bats were nearly banned during the london riots

    >You need a license for airsoft.
    No, you dont.

If your gun happens to be slightly higher than regulation power, it becomes classified as an airgun, and they'll call LONDON'S TOUGHEST COPS on you, who will then call a licensed firearms inspector to look at it.

Knives below 4 inches need no excuse to carry anything below 6 inches by stating you are a chef or fisherman and anything over 6 inches with other good reason like "returning from store", "taking it to another private property".

These are similar to many state laws in the US.

California bans "assault weapons" and .50 BMG rifles while Britain does not.

California's licencing system is also pretty similar to Britain's.

    > Residents must submit an application for the purchase of each firearm; the applications are reviewed and approved by the California Department of Justice.

I find it amusing that a standard safety feature, a silencer, is standard practice to have among British shooters but illegal in California because it turns your gun into an ultra silent assassin weapon.

for a class III weapon you must pay for a tax stamp for 200 us dollars each year and have the stamp on the weapon at all times

this is for f/a pre ban suppressors and 40mm nades
40mm nades must be reported to the ATF when you fire them and all ammunition must be reported to the ATF
you also need approval on locations to fire one

The $200 tax stamp is for any NFA item (such as short barreled rifles, silencers, automatic rifles) That is paid as a submission fee for their inspection of your background. If you are denied you don't get your money back but it is a 1 time fee for silencers and SBR's.

I am unsure about full auto weapons to be honest however the weapon themselves is so costly that even if you had to pay $500 a year it wouldn't make a difference. The cheapest you could buy a full auto weapon would be at least $4000 for a .22 caliber weapon. Not to mention you burn through ammo quickly. Most full-auto's sell for $20,000 and up plus the ~35 cents per round fired.

Since you can only transfer a pre '86 full auto weapon they have increased in price due to their rarity. tl;dr People wouldn't be worried about the $200 tax if they bought a $20,000+ weapon that shoots $2,000 of ammo in a weekend.

see one or want to make one, ask for a form fill out send to ATF wait for about 3-9 months then they will say yes or no and then you show them the one you want to buy and they approve again then you buy it and they give you a "tax stamp" to put on the silencer then you can put it any gun you want that fits it and then you keep it for long time

It isn't 'Airsoft' thats banned it is 'Realistic Imitation Firearms' not just Airsoft but blank firers, replicas' etc.. and you just need to be 18 to purchase or have one 'gifted' to you and you need a reason for owning one such as 'Airsofting' for having an airsoft gun etc..

A shotgun certificate is very easy to get and a FAC is just a little bit more paperwork. You are correct in that non Law enforcement cannot purchase any gun which comes with magazines greater than 10 rounds. it is also illegal to purchase, sell, or import greater than 10 round magazines. However if you owned the "high capacity" magazines before the ban you can still use them. However this is where the law fails: no magazine has a manufacture date and under no contexts are you ever obligated to show proof of purchase or time of purchase. So yes, owners of firearms who obtain greater than 10 round magazines legally other otherwise are withing the legal right to own, and use them.

Using those guys as an argument is flawed: they live in georgia and don't know California laws. Note they also said you can only own a pump action Ak47. Wrong, most CA gun stores sell AK's and their variants.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't live in California and only know its laws by what some FUD tells you on the internet. If you're doubting me go to /k/ and ask the Kalifornia /k/ommando's whats up.

Also, if you want something like a traditional style AR15 with the assault weapon features as outlined by the CADOJ it must be a "fixed magazine". That means you must use a tool to remove the magazine or split the halves and insert them that way. Featureless rifles avoid this and bullet buttons make this a moot point.

I'm not defending the laws, just clarifying because clearly you have a misrepresentation of them.

Our cops call out firearm squads to make air rifles safe. I don't think your average cop will understand this if I want to carry a sword.

So what about the .50 cal ban?
    >> Anonymous 02/26/12(Sun)18:48 No.1840301
It's very important that Americans have the second amendment because gun restructions in the UK were bought about through democracy not through totalitarianism like everyone assumes.

The people called for the restrictions not the government. But in America the people cannot call for the ban of guns.

If they made a vote tomorrow about whether or not guns should be legal in both America and the UK and America had no second amendment both would end up banning them since the common man is a pussy.

What about it? You can still buy .50BMG uppers for AR15 lowers. You can buy a .416 Barret Rifle which shoots ballistically better rounds, you can shoot shotgun slugs and .50+cal C&R rifles. You can still buy .50cal ammo and magazines. Someone also made a .510 round that is nearly the same as .50BMG. If you try to specifically ban something in the gun world someone is going to find a way around it because of how the laws are hastily and shortsightedly written or a better substitute is created.

Same with the AWB, if you had it before the ban you can keep it. Subsequently, a .50BMG upper isn't classified as a gun. The ammo and accessories for .50BMG stuff isn't illegal.

No you cannot go to a gun store and buy a .50BMG "gun".

What does wikipedia say about that.

That was superseded seeing as no one is being arrested.

No the same law that say you Have to have a sword is the law that says you can be conscripted. It was all part of the england having no standing army and you could be called on by your king and as a free man (on the electoral register) had to defend the crown if called. it is the legal foundation for conscription. if they remove this so they can lift you for having a sword, they have no conscription.

Yes... but it says katana and sword canes and then does not mention swords? why do you think that is? maybe cause they are controlled under another piece of legislation? Sword Canes can be mentioned cause they are concealed, but an open carried sword can not.

Protip: There's a right to keep and bare arms in Britain that has been round since the 1600s.

The problem is it doesn't clarify what arms so they just keep taking arms away. As of right now you have a right to keep and bare swords, crossbows and bows.

if you carried it openly then you're an idiot and lucky you weren't confronted by an armed reponce unit

if you carried it in a locked case as the law requires then obviously your fine

if you concealed it then you broke the law but it's not really an issue since no one knew you had it

Because all I see is a bunch of shit about knights, nothing about people carnying weapons.
