    71 KB 6 B.S. Myths You Probably Believe About America's 'Enemies' Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)18:02 No.1117243
    http://www.cracked.com/article_19461_6-b.s.-myths-you-probably-believe-about-americas-enemies.html

Ahmadinejad isn't in charge of Iraq; Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is.

China isn't going to streamroll America, and is more dependent on them than the other way around.

America doesn't rely on its enemies for oil. 36% of our oil is domestic. Another 22% comes from Canada.

Al-Qaida is not a huge threat, and never has been.

    North Korea's military isn't dangerous.

    The world doesn't hate America.

I hope I have educated all of the uninformed /pol/iticians out there.

Absolute shit. The US consumed ~19,000,000 bbl/day in 2010, and produced ~1,500,000 bbl/day

    >Ahmadinejad isn't in charge of Iraq; Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is.
Confuse one letter, and go full retard. I pitty OP for his typo.

    >America doesn't rely on its enemies for oil. 36% of our oil is domestic. Another 22% comes from Canada.
It isn't (just) about oil, but what it's traded in. Our economy depends on oil being traded in US dollars, as that's the only thing that retains the US dollar's position as the world reserve currency. If that ends we can't print our way out of debt anymore. Saddam got the axe when he tried to trade oil in Euroes. Qadaffi got the axe when he tried to trade oil in gold.

    >North Korea's military isn't dangerous.
North Korea could wipe Seoul off the map with a phone call, instantly killing 3 million people. They've got more artillery aimed at S.Korea's capital than was used in the entire second world war. It's not the power of their military, but it's position. (Also nuclear capability is nothing to sneeze at either.) Our army is so insane large, we don't really fear anyone's military (not even China's) - but what damage would result out of a war.

No argument with the rest... "The world doesn't hate America" maybe a bit screwy though. Depends on who you're talking about, and exactly what you mean by the phrase.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)18:25 No.1117633
Also, Ahmadinejad never threatened to "wipe Israel off the map." He was quoting a neutral observation by Khomeini that Israel was unsustainable and would eventually disappear.

    >America doesn't rely on its enemies for oil.

So 58% comes from friendly sources, and the rest...? Even if we only rely on our enemies for ~5% or so, if that 5% is vital to our economy then yes, we DO depend on our enemies for oil.

    >The world doesn't hate America.

    Yes, it does.

How do we know Canada isn't our enemy? What if they come down here and invade.... politely?

    >>America doesn't rely on its enemies for oil. 36% of our oil is domestic. Another 22% comes from Canada.

Suddenly losing nearly half our fuel would inarguably fuck us.
Further, people don't use that argument in that literal way, they usually clearly mean that we ought to think of the other countries as enemies but currently do not. I.e., stop being so damn close to the Saudis and their ilk.

The US gets a majority of their oil from closer/friendlier countries. Canada is one of them, so is Venezuela, Mexico, Nigeria, and Norway.

North Korea's army maybe a pocket knife compared to our scoped M-16 - but they are holding said pocket knife to the throat of our S. Korean allies, and could slit that skin, any time they choose. Thus, they are a threat.

This, while painting murals of the white house being bombed in their capital.

The Saudis are very good and loyal friends of the US, much more so than any of those countries. Sure, the PEOPLE there hate America (but again, so do the people in Mexico) but they don't have any say, and the House of Saud lives and dies by its alliance with America.

Venezuela is a lil pissed off about us trying to off their leader, but he's about to drop off any ways, after which our proxies will be in charge.

We own Nigeria. Yes, they protest once in awhile, but the truth is, their government is in such disarray that Chevron pretty much does whatever it wants over there, and that includes acting as the local army and police. I mean they've set the whole south end of the country on fire. The bloody sky burns over there.

We own Mexico's government - but it's true, we're having a bit of trouble getting those cartels under control. Might have something to do with the fact that, through our control of the government, we've left the average Mexican with no legal way to make a living.
