This. In fact, it's OP I could rage about for hours... He bought a cheap consumer body (a camera specially tailored to the operational and financial needs of highschool kids, tourists, snapshooters, people who don't care etc.), but thought it was the golden ticket to some special elitist club. But instead of being recognized as the arts genius he is, he doesn't stand out of the crowd at all but rather blends in with other highschoolers who wanted a 'really good camera' and thought a flipping mirror was something of an image quality feature.
Now he's raging to desperately get the recognition he rightfully deserves - and that girl who just couldn't care less now is the personification for all those who took it away from him...

It's the same as if he bought a sports car, hoping people would think of him being a race driver. many people are tricked into buying DSLRs by misleading marketing.
I was in Target in Kingston NY a few weeks ago and in the camera section there were 2 images of a child running around on a lawn. One was fine and was captioned "photo taken by interchangeable lens camera" and the other photo was the same just clearly photoshopped with linear motion blur and some grain added captioned "photo taken with non interchangeable lens camera".
And that was it, no * with a disclaimer telling you its a simulated image, no explanation of how this effect happens. It only exists to sell expensive items to the uninformed who wonder why their photographs taken with their mavica are blurry.

DSLR:s are cheap nowadays though. For the most part a DSLR will offer better IQ than a similarly priced non-DSLR camera, too. And they do offer genuinely good things for photographing things such as moving kids; that is, a far faster AF and instantly taking the photo once you do press the shutter button. Sure it probably won't make the picture grainy and blurry, but do try to photograph running kids with the regular cheap P&S.
