Annnnd this is the first pic I took after getting the 5D. Unfortunately, in the time it took me to build up the nerve to go approach a stranger and ask to take her picture, the light dropped dramatically. And I was nervous and didn't set my settings as well as I ought to have. And so this is, effectively, at around ISO6400 equivalent. But I didn't want to take a picture of random crap on my desk or my dick or anything like that for my first shot with the new camera, so here we are.

Do you find it difficult to operate the diaphragm manually? Have you developed a system how to use it effectively?
I have K10D and i often use 55mm f/2 takumar with it due to its great image quality. It's not for every situation as it's close to 85 mm on a crop camera.

You don't have to operate the diaphragm manually on old K-mount lenses for stop-down metering.
You can use the green button, and with a maunal lens mounted, it will stop it down, read the meter, set the appropriate exposure settings, and open back up.
The DOF preview button works on manual lenses in much the same way. it will snap the diaphragm down so you can adjust it and see the meter let it go, it snaps right back open.

    Gotta love the green button.
