It's not really that noisy, shoot at f/11 and ISO 100 though (Don't go further than f/11).
I'd be more worried about all those hot pixels you've got all over the picture

    Hot pixels?

Your photo really isn't very noisy, and the bit that you do have isn't going to affect a print.

cool your ccd sensor with a peltier or liquid nitrogen or something like that. temperature has a really big impact on noise. you can test this yourself by putting your camera to the freezer for few hours and comparing some high iso cold shots to room temperature shots.

every overclocker and computer hardware enthusiast knows that components work better in cold temperatures.

Start working with ISO 100 instead of 400. Save higher ISO for moving objects. Use a tripod.

If just those two combined don't result in an improvement, then you might have more serious problems.

Have a look on google about hot pixels. Alot of people just accept it and remove them when they process the image. Otherwise you will need to send it in for repair obviously explaining the problem.

    here's your problems:

    1) D60, pretty noisy sensor overall, but you can compensate by shooting at lower isos
    2) F/22.. Hello diffraction (not noise related but still will take away from the quality)
    3) 30 second exposure at iso 400.. this will lead to lots of noise

Use a larger F stop (smaller number) at a lower iso

they used an ultra wide lens

they used a camera with a better sensor (d300)

    they shot at iso 100

    they clearly used a tripod

    they shot at a larger f-stop (f 6.3)

The image is also clearly manipulated. Even if there is noise at iso 100 in this image, the black and white area will mask the chroma noise if there is any.

ahh i wanted to pick up a Tokina 11-16mm but they're so bloody expensive in Canada -_-
    (almost $800 CDN)

Also suggestions for a tripod?..i have this flimsy piece of crap from wallmart..it was like 20 bucks.

    >>748170

you can use a flimsy piece of crap with a small dslr, but you will benefit greatly from buying a wireless cable release, so you don't have to touch the camera and potentionally move it and fuck up picture

If you are too cheap to buy a wireless control, put the camera in delayed shooting mode so it doesn't shake when you press the button

The velbon CX480 is a pretty good tripod, not too expensive but is pretty sturdy with a D60 on it.
