Basic composition rules, maybe this will help keep the new/p/hags from posting snapshots. I'll start, Rule of thirds.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds
Level horizondiagonals exiting at corners
don't make it look like a pile of shit.
please, go on. rule of thirds, level horizon, these are all things i learned about in the first week of having a camera, but i don't feel like i completely understand composition.give us some more pointers, pros.
I'll throw some things out there I think about but if some /p/ro disagrees, well fuck you.-fill the frame: in other words, make the entire frame contain interesting stuff-color: make sure to have something of interesting color in there. unless it's b&w durr.-don't be afraid to tilt: it's okay to have crooked images, as an effect.that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Diagonals, leading lines, parallel lines, intersecting lines, etc. Basically, a lot of it has to do with lines leading your eyes all throughout the photograph. First to your subject, then all around the frame. Also, rule of thirdstl;dr Lines and rule of thirds.
having something interesting in your frame is more important than compositiontldr: f/8 and be there
Equivocal Space, Dynamics, Semiotics!!
CONTRASTS; big/small, dark/light, thick/thin, warm/cold, long/narrow. Complementary colors, Foreground-Middleground-Background, Repeating.Also; the 7 basic principles of composition =Balance, ´Whole´, Contrast, Highlight, Pattern, Movement and Rythm.

>>731367I really like this photo. Is it an example of bad composition, though?
>>731679well I don't think it is perfect, but I am just curious as to how people will analyse the composition. What is happening in the photo?

This is kind of wishy-washy.I am fine with vague to not misrepresent photography and teach people bad habbits, but all I can do now is take tones of pictures for practice and try to think of what looks nice.
Prominent labia, and/or nips. That's important, too.
I like this one but I am not sure what rules it follows.EXIF data available. sorry guys I dont follow rules!
Frame your subject with an even number of other elements. Three is a good rule of thumb (=subject + two surrounding objects). This makes your subject seem friendly and comforting and the whole composition visually pleasing. Even numbers produce symmetries, which can make the composition seem forced. Similar "rule" applies to context too. One or two things are not enough to make a picture interesting and too much stuff can be too much. Three is a good number. Example: Photo of a flower - boringPhoto of a drop of dew on a flower - still boringPhoto of a bug in a flower with a drop of dew - Interesting
They're more like suggestions anyway. I've gotten to the point where I don't really consciously take note of them anymore. I just point my camera at something that looks interesting then play with the angle, walk around to good light, until it looks good.
>>731395bullshit, that only applies to photojournalism. A good photographer is able to make something boring look interesting through perspective and lighting. That's why people are into shitty HDR. It's "pretty".
>>731367>photography>rulesFFFFFFUUUUUU
rule #1 and the rule to make a pro shot:always feel free to break these rules.
this are not really rules, but you photographs will be more generally more appealing if you follow them, because the human mind works that way
>>731756Rule of thirdsLevel horizon>>731679Yes it is quite badly composed.Uneven horizonUgly blurry sand/rocks in foregroundSubjects are tiny and don't add anything to the picture (normal beach clothes, separate groups)
There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.
