I tried to bump a photothread from page 10 yesterday
it didn't work

So it's not just the OP who can't bump? What exactly determines whether a thread will bump then? Is it a lottery?

It happens random.

It has happened to one of my photo threads. I noticed that it wasn't getting bumped, so I deleted and made it again, same luck. I think I erased the text and it work, don't really remember.
I also remember that it happened to one photo-challenge thread, one 5hoe stream, and one anon that posted really cool photos.

I can't draw a connection between the threads I've seen it happen. I sent a mail to the admins, but they never answered. This doesn't seem to be cause by a mood manually marking the threads as spam/troll, because my thread was a photo thread, and that anon also had legit a photo thread.

I don't know if it has to do with the OP image, or the text. My bet is that it has to do with the text. Maybe certain strings of text trigger anti-spam prevention code, or some shit like that.

I used to think it was happening to only gear threaeds, but it truly is random, as >>1634366 said.

Do you have anything at all in the email field?
What happens when you bump with an image?

I'd love to see all non photo threads go this way. I've always wondered how the contribution:faggotry ratio would change if the board wasn't designed to remain at a full at 16 pages all the time.

Except the first post WAS a photo contribution, of sorts anyway. But still, I've seen lots of threads go straight into no-bump territory before and not all of them were gear threads.

Take this thread, for example. I was sure it wouldn't even bump with the first post, but it's been bumping with every post with no sign of slowing. It's certainly not a photo sharing thread.

Confirmed.

I tried various stuff, from changing the image to changing the text, but only deleting the text completely worked. There seemed to be no strange or "wrong" characters in the text. Posting the exact same text as response to the thread didn't break it.
If anyone cares, I can paste the text that was used.

E-mailed the mods, but got no answer.

Here's a screencap of one photo thread that suffered from this auto-sage thing.

It's really hard to tell what triggers it. I believe this is not caused by a mod, because why would a mod do this to a legit photo thread?

Should we resort to sacrificing a goat?

It happens instantly when you create the thread. It's not like the thread is working normal and then suddenly goes into auto-sage. Do mods have the option to set a thread for auto-sage?
