It's easily the most recognizable portrait but it would be tough to pit that against the body of work of Yusef Karsh.

I got to see Karsh's photo of Churchill at the Louisville Speed Museum. They curators posted the backstory to the portrait which basically said Karsh had about 30 seconds and Churchill wouldn't give up his trademark cigar. Karsh went up to Churchill, the most powerful man in Europe, and ripped the cigar out of his mouth, and took the picture, Churchill's grimace and all.

You have, since Afghan Girl is definitely a Caucasian.
Caucasian doesn't have to mean Anglo or Aryan.

Those green/grey eyes are found all along the Southern Mediterranean, Turkey, the Levant, with a big concentration in old Persia.

Green/Grey eyes often have freckles in them, and seem to glow and change color when they catch the light. I think that's why they come out great in photos.
