This exact same thing happened to me a while ago, OP. I bought a Zacuto Z-Finder, emailed them to see if they could exchange it for the new Pro version released a couple weeks after I bought mine. They were bros and after a few weeks told me to return my unit. They sent me a new one.

After they got my returned unit with the form, they sent me another one. I kept it for 4 months in case they asked it back, they never did. I sold it for 600$ here in Brazil.
