Take note /p/haggots, this man shoots only film, works for the New York Times, and lives in a small studio apartment with every negative he's ever taken.

Check out the doc on Netflix "Bill Cunningham New York"

Just watched it. Perhaps, as >>1398174 says, his photography isn't wonderful in OUR sense, being that they aren't beautiful or stunning or amazing or worthy of a gallery. BUT it is quite inspiring that he could do this for so long, tirelessly. We can learn a lot from him- I've seen many a photog fizzle out after a few years. Quite amazing to me that he's using that old Nikon as well. .. just my two cents.

He shoots an FM2. He exclusively uses Superia, literally the cheapest mass produced film, and devs at some ratty looking bodega. He has a wacky setup he uses to proof and do his selections, basically an ELMO + lightbox, viewed over a CRT.

There's a great scene in the movie where he's at Paris Fashion Week trying to get his press credentials sorted out with some 20something intern. He gets frustrated, and looks like a tiny, confused old man. Then someone else with a staff badge is like "Bill? Bill?" They motion Bill over and say to the intern, "He doesn't have to wait in line." The next shot is inside the show, at the catwalk. It shows the press photo box, which is like 30 guys with L series teles crammed into a 10 foot x 10 foot space, all rapid firing away. The camera then pans over to Bill, sitting in the front fucking row in his blue lab coat, snapping periodically with the FM2.

Things Bill Cunningham gives a fuck about:
