Everyone makes fun of the V6 mustang here and I doubt many people actually have a car with more horsepower. The 2013 has 305.

Which WRX is that because the fastest STI the GC8 did it in 4.5 and I don't believe Subaru would go to all that trouble developing the STI to shave off 0.2 seconds.

Also the bug eye WRX was rated at 6.7 seconds.

They're not amazing but they're still head and shoulders above most things on the road. They only pale in comparison to cars that are praised specifically for their handling. And they generally make up the difference in a straight line vs those cars.

Oh, also...
>thinking a stock WRX is faster than a V6 Mustang

2009.

It's all in the gearing. The 2012-13 WRX does similar 0-60 runs to the 2009 as well, you can reach 60 in second.

0.2 faster to 60. Because it's a six-speed there's an extra shift. The car is 50bhp more powerful, and that comes into play on the top end.

>>
>>7138243
No, that's not it. The Mustang's peak speed is low because that's where the limiter kicks in. ~114/115 mph.
The V6 mustang has a weaker drive shaft than the V8 and it's prone to shearing at higher speeds, apparently. Ford limited the top speed on them for that reason. Lots of people have removed the limiter without problems but some have removed the limiter and had their drive shafts go boom.

So yeah. It's not faster in the corners, I don't think. Maybe some of the sweepers.

Well.. I'm as big a Mustang fanboy as anyone else but I'm not retarded enough to think they're the best car or any shit like that. They are just (in my opinion) the best car you can get for the money so I am a fan of them and I own one. That's really what it boils down to, I guess.

Anyone who blindly fanboys for any car without considering that there are both positives and negatives to it is a fucking retard. For me, the biggest letdown of the Mustang isn't how it corners (because it does that quite well) it's the completely numb steering feel. It's like driving through a video game controller, my fucking Range Rover has more steering feel.
>>
>>7138251

So the mustang is slower on the straights, and on the turns- but still has a faster lap time?

>>
>>7138280
No, it's faster on the straights. It's just slower on the MAIN straight and probably only for a short period of time while it bounces off the rev limiter.

It accelerates faster. And to be realistic, probably has similar corner speeds as well in all but the slowest corners.
>>
>>7138266
I agree, it's not worth it, and you can get the power out of the WRX. But you're not paying for the retarded 0-60 spec, you're paying for all the extra diff gizmos and shit, and the extra power.

Still not worth it.

Jesus Christ Mustang fanboys are sad. 20+ years of N/A V6/4cyl Mustang models being called girl cars, bitch mobiles, and not real cars really hurt their egos. Now they're just overcompensating constantly making shitposts now that their car's base trim grew a pair, trying to make up for 20+ years of butthurt and analpain.

We get it, the V6 Mustang is fast now. Stop compensating.
>>

I might take longer getting up there, but I could probably out drive most people who own a V6 Mustang, and according to the guy who said the V6 version's drive shaft shears out, I could outpace 110 easy.

Lets be reasonable people. Here in the US, we have long straight roads. Heck, i spend most of my time ont he highway. I dont find myself diving through corners that often, and my v8 GT 2006 is really fun on the highway! Super easy to pass cars too. I can understand the need for the turning where you're driving through curvy roads, but i literally never find myself diving corners except on exit ramps, and i do fine there anyway. Was highly considering it, but dealing with a car seat in a coupe would have been painful
>>
>>7142124

That a Mustang is being beat by a Camry.
>>
Can I be in the club if I can get to 60 in 8 seconds while weighing 4500lb, being over 10 years old, and having the aerodynamic properties of a brick?
>>
>>7142155

No.

Fuck off.

Your car sucks and you should feel bad.
>>
>>7142158
I'm coming in the club anyways I don't even give a fuck

DYEL?
>>
>>7142154
In what? 0-60 times? Since when does that set the performance bar to anyone who actually matters to the automotive community? The Camry is still a boring beige sedan with a powerful motor. It could have a sideways goddamn 426 hemi and it would be boring with a ton of wrong wheel drive power.

Fuckin' bench racers, man.
>>
I have a gt-86 with performance tyres

I'm allowed to post

>In what? 0-60 times? Since when does that set the performance bar to anyone who actually matters to the automotive community?

Mustangs are straight line performance machines, the Mustang is being beat on the one quality that Mustang owners boast about.

>The Camry is still a boring beige sedan with a powerful motor.

And the mustang is still a soccormom non-sportscar with a truck interior and 1950's suspension. It's about as boring to me.

What I just saw when I googled both 0-60 times, is the 2013 mustang V6 is 5.1-5.3 seconds, and the 2013 camry is 5.7
>>
>>7142182
I happen to think the Mustang GT is a fine sports car for what it is and at its price point.

Anyone who buys a V6 pony car has no business claiming any sports/performance claims.
>>
>>7142182
It''s funny when 1950's technology can go toe to toe with an M3, isn't it?
>>
>>7142192

>prius performance tires

what does that even mean? what are you implying?

>>

Not really, because Ford uses an old ass V8 that is tired as shit, they just work the fuck out of it.

BMW is about progression, having a world renown i6 in earlier M3s that would demolish just about any other stock motor from the regular automotive companies.

The new 4L M3 V8 has a redline of 8300 RPM and has peak torque at 3900 RPM. Plus, you have to remember that the M3 is carrying a lot more technology and creature comforts. The ford is basically a bare bones sports car. Most of the weight is from its heavy ass axles and suspension.

Anyone can engineer a big go-kart with a huge engine and have it handle well and go fast, but bringing a sense of refinement into the cab for the driver is why the M3 costs so much more. There's a lot more road dampening, less noise inside the cab, and better steering feel.

This is the truth, whether or not you accept it. No, you aren't paying for a badge with these high end euro companies, you are paying for the extensive R&D that goes into making an all around better vehicle, better fit and finish, better material build, more technology. It's called advancement, and it's something that most American companies seem to be against, or will con out of other manufacturers. Sad, but true.

That's nice, so where's your counter argument? Oh that's right, you don't have one.

I had almost forgotten that this board is dominated by 16 year olds who have no real knowledge of anything automotive related whatsoever.

>>
>>7142302

I don't think anyone is going to argue on pricepoint, since that's the one good thing mustangs have: Acceleration/$

Mustangs are an engine on wheels, everything else on the car is shitty, but both the V6 and V8 are the cheapest speed you can buy.
>>
>>7142328
>Mustang GT was only .9 of a second slower than the M3 on the track
