Black and white comics with clearly labeled metaphors for your political views are pretty much the best way to discredit your entire argument.

I don't see why public transportation and cars are incompatible. It's nice to not have to use a car to get places sometimes, like when you want to go out drinking. You can ride a subway drunk (well, as long as you're not TOO drunk). Also, in certain cities it's nice to get around without a car. I was very fond of the Boston subway system. Additionally, if more people used public transport then there wouldn't be as much crappy traffic.

However, cars are nice for getting lots of places that are hard to get to with public transport, as well as being fun. Cars are great in many ways. Each has their place.

    totally.

I fucking love cars. Im sitting here on /o/ rather than listening to what my linguistics prof has to say. But to tell the truth, public transport, when done right is MUCH better for us as a species and planetary residents than private internal combustion engines. Tokyo, New York, Shanghai, Paris. Ive taken all of their public transportation and seen many levels of advancement and efficiency and let me tell you, it CAN work without sacrificing any real convenience. Sure in tokyo you cant have American style drive through burgers, drive through churches and funerals, but you save MUCH more pain and $$.

I actually like riding the train when I'm commuting, fuck buses though.

Lolwut? New York was the worst public transportation I ever experienced. Chicago, Baltimore (lol) and DC (lol) all have better public transportation than New York.

    Public transport is great when:
    You're drinking.
You're going to a big city where they have traffic jams, awful one-way systems and it costs money to park.
You want to eat/do paperwork/make phone calls en route.

    Cars are good when:
You're shopping for furniture or other large items that would be hard to carry on the bus.
You're going on a camping holiday.

Each has their merits. For commuting, I would take the train. For visits to IKEA, I take the car.

    Now lets all be freinds.

No, you can drink anything and still go drive. Don't know why you need to catch a bus just because you went out for a few drinks.

depends on your country's blood alcohol limit. here in europe, 2 beers or 1 glass of spirits will pretty much put an average person at the limit.

Yeah, you can also spend hours with drunks, drug addicts, homeless people, smelly people who with indigestion problems, insufferable kids, the mentally ill while you wait for your connection to do all of that all over again. And while you're doing that and trying hard not to think about committing suicide, you're in the capable, well-trained hands of some guy who lacked the qualification to drive an eighteen wheeler and who most likely only gets to keep his job because his union feels that randomized drug tests discriminate against minorities.

Buses and trains are not critical infrastructure for A to B transport anywhere in this country with the exception of a handful of metropolitan areas.

There *are* cabs that can get you home from the bar. And don't give me efficiency or bullshit about the environment because I sure as hell don't think that having a bus that is 85% empty most of the time and gets just fantastic gas mileage is all that efficient. Hey, I know, let's "streamline public transportation" and impose extra congestion charges and let the buses fuck with the traffic lights like the Europeans do. I'm sure all that stop-and-go traffic is just indescribably efficient.

tl;dr: If you you want to live in Europe, move to Europe.

    >Now lets all be freinds.

No. This is /o/. I will not tolerate /n/igger faggotry in my beloved /o/.

I was kinda thinking that I wished I had public transport locally. We don't, and the roads are craptastic. WAY too many suspension destroying potholes.

Outside of Europe as long as you don't puke in view of the police you are fine. Can be staggering and visibly drunk but they'll send you on your way.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/09(Fri)13:53 No.1385800
Even after the cost of road tax, insurance and everything else it's still cheaper to drive than to take the bus or and drastically cheaper than taking the train.

Plus, I've never been on a bus or train (even 1st class) that was as comfortable as driving and the buses and trains don't go to my house or run to my schedule.

Public transport fags that think everyone should use it are one step above Prius drivers. Public transport has its uses but so do cars.

They're not incompatible, it's just that the way the world is laid out doesn't suit public transport for the majority of people.

the bus routes are getting horrible in parts out the netherlands. I wish people would just have stuck to riding bikes.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/09(Fri)14:01 No.1385825
Funny story. I love pulling up to bus stops where loosers are waiting for their crappy ride. I then roll the window down just a bit and point out I have 4 large, comfortable empty seats that I'm driving around for no reason. I then speed away.
