Hi, thank you for you question about Australia's ridiculous censorship in recent times. The reason for all this happening is that Labor is in power both nationally and in every single state. A Liberal government in no way would support such statist measures. We believe strongly in individual freedom and not socialism-lite like Labor.

I remember seeing a reaction image a while back which made me smile. "John Howard - won't touch your internet because he doesn't know what the fuck it is."

We do not believe in welfare. That would be Labor, and their idiotic stimulus package which was the most brute force way to counteract the impending recession. The Liberals believe in low taxes and small government. Such a government would not give money for nothing to lazy bums but would rather encourage them to actually work for it in a glorious free marketplace.

I'm sorry, but the evidence for Global warming is greater than the evidence for the theory of gravity. You would know this if you spent more time reading scientific journals and not listening to paranoid conspiracy theorists on their internet blogs spouting pig ignorant bullshit.

But let me get this straight

You are against taxing Australians to pay for a reduction in emissions.

So what does your party do? propose a tax on Australians to reduce emissions.

Labor's ETS is not a tax, and any cost to consumers is offset by compensation.

The coalitions plan either has to be paid for by

    A) Increasing taxes on consumers

    B) Cutting spending i nthe budget

    C) borrowing and increasing Australia's national debt.

Oh, and how do you feel about having the agrarian socialist, Barnyard Joyce, as your shadow finance minister?

I'm not much keen on the ETS, its largely a means for polluters to look like they're doing something while actually not - as well as a new financial market for banks and investment firms to fiddle with and that worked so well with subprime mortgages didn't it?
Much simpler and easier would be a direct tax on carbon emissions. It only takes a few big countries to do it and everyone else will follow, any hold outs can have tariffs thrown on them and their businesses will quickly lobby their government to change their tune.

Also, phase out coal by 2030.

Ah, the LDP is that fully libertarian party, is it not? They aren't too bad, but I feel a reason why the Liberals are great is because internally the Conservatives and Libertarians keep each other in check.

My personal stance on guns is that they should remain restricted as they are because Australia is an extremely safe country, and there's not really much of a victory for rights in regards to self-defense if people are allowed to own guns for that reason. If you're using them for hunting just get a permit like you do now.

You do realize that if even the mildest predictions of climate change come into fruition (which they already are) then it's going to cost a lot more than a tax or other action on reducing Co2 emissions ever would. Perhaps it's time you paid a visit to NASA's website http://climate.nasa.gov/

You go on about media scare and hippies but it's you being conned into a lie about global conspiracies and scary government takeovers etc etc.

Your party has become ethically bankrupt if you think that Australia does not have to do it's own part to reduce Co2 emissions as part of a global solution.

Get fucked you hippy bastard. A lot of this climate change data is highly suspicious because of the inherent research bias (it is far better career move to report a finding on something occurring rather than something NOT occurring). But I do agree that a lot of the skeptics arguments are also bullshit.

My persona view is caution on both sides. Treat climate change as inevitable, but don't go insane trying to go green.

The problem is that you can't afford to be wrong mate. It is currently estimated at a 90% probability by the IPCC (still more credible than you probably think) that the observed global warming is anthropogenic. If it was only a 50% chance then the consequences would still demand drastic action to reduce Co2 emissions.

To do nothing will cost this country (not to mention the world) a great deal more than an extra 100 dollars on your annual electricity bill ever would.

Unless you have a better explanation for the observed warming of course.

You have been sucked into believing more lies. There was never a consensus about global cooling in the 70s, in fact, more scientists predicted global warming than global cooling.

The Y2K was a very real problem and the reason why computers around the world did not go haywire was because people spent the better part of a decade working out ways to fix it. That something did not take place due to action taken to remedy it does not mean there was no threat in the first place.
