What does /new/ think about gun control and concealed carry?
I'm all for gun control.
I'm all for guns
I'm against gun control.
If concealed carry was allowed in schools, then there would be a plummet in crime rates in schools.Just like they do it in Israel.
Military personnel should be required to carry a sidearm while on base.
If the posters on /new/ are any indication, no one should EVER be allowed to possess a gun, or a weapon of any kind.
Basically, some weapons should not be allowed to be owned by civilians. Why the fuck does the average person need a grenade launcher? (in before "to fight tyrannical gub'mint") So we should place limits on the types of weapons people can own.On the remaining weapons, nothing is lost by making them safer. If people are going to use weapons, they should know how to use and operate them effectively, so throw in some training classes prior to purchase.
>>759164And how many crimes have been perpetrated with grenade launchers? Please, if you're arguing from bullshit then disregard this and carry on with your factless rant.
>>759188And how many people actually own or could feasibly get their hands on a grenade launcher? Think this might have something to do with the lack of grenade-launcher related crime?
>>759201law-abiding citizens aren't even allowed to own them, so that just leaves criminals. enjoy your self-fulfilling prophecy faggot.
>>759224And where do criminals get them from? I would think they'd need to smuggle them in, which, while certainly not impossible, is at least highly inconvenient and unlikely to happen except in the cases of highly organized criminals. Certainly not by your average asshole who decides to rob a liquor store. And in these cases, why bother when a handgun or a shotgun is much more easily concealed and just as effective?
>>759224see>>759188
>>759201And tell me what kind of crime would someone commit with such an expensive, heavy and large weapon? Not to mention every single shot would cost somewhere around 10-15$. And the one pictured here can only hold 4 rounds.Even if grenade launchers were common they wouldn't be used in many crimes. Same reason why .50 caliber rifles have only been used in one crime, and wasn't even fired.
>>759265so you're saying criminals will use the most easily acquired weapons? then what happens when all guns are banned? they use knives? do we ban knives? they move to baseball bats, and so on... ill take my chances with gun rights
>>759282Considering we just recently had a man fly a plane into a building to protest taxes? Well, assaulting a federal building, for one.
Herp Derp let's stop gang violence by taking away grandpa's guns!
>>759312No, I'm saying a criminal will use the weapon most appropriate for the crime at hand.
>>759323what are we going to do now, ban planes?????
>>759344Basically we need to ban everything that can't be used to murder babies.
>>759344Yes. That is exactly what we are going to do.
>>759350Can you name a single thing that CAN'T be used as a murder weapon against a baby? I can't.
>>759359Then we'll have to ban everything. Then baby killers can register their baby killing weapons so that we can be sure they don't use them on humans.
Weapons allow the citizens of a country to voice their will to power more effectively.
>>759494Not when they don't know how to use those weapons, and will never use them when it really matters.
I think you could kill a baby with a baby, so we should ban babys that can kill other babys but since all the babys can kill other babys we have to ban all the babys

I have 20 guns
the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
I'm all for people having guns, but they should be made to prove competency with a class of weapons before being allowed to carry one.Want to have a rifle? Alright, you need to demonstrate that you are able to strip it, clean it, maintain it, and can reliably hit targets at certain arbitrary distances both stationary and moving, and again while under stress.
I believe in responsible gun control, two hands on the weappn with the safety engaged.
I have 32 guns, if you try to take them away I will kill you.
>>761550And who do I have to "prove" my competency to? Some beaurocrat?
>>761587Yes, for licensure. Think of it like driver's ed: You'd sit in classes about how to properly care for and maintain a variety of guns, you'd see the gun safety version of Red Asphalt (real crowd pleaser, that one), you'd have mandatory range time, and at the end of it you take both a written and a practical test, are given your license and off you go.
Concealed carry is awesome. Sometimes, I kinda want to get mugged just so I can rid the world of a punk-ass wigger.
I don't see nothing wrong in people trying to defend themselfs, even if it means with firearms, also crime would decrease.
>>761607Basically the process for every country in the industrialized world apart from Niggerville (USA)...
>>761609Fuck man, you're tough as hell.
>>759164>>759188>>759201>>759224>>759282ITT: total and complete ignorance of American gun laws. New manufacture 40mm M203 grenade launchers are about $1500 plus a $200 tax stamp. They are completely legal to buy and own, no laws against ownership whatsoever.Practice rounds are about $20 each, HE rounds are about $100 each plus a $200 tax stamp on each HE round purchased.
>>761367Nice M16, bro!
I, for one, believe this image is related.
>>761620Feh. I learned to shoot from my dad. He instilled in me a proper respect for guns and made gun safety. He took me out to some land and had me shoot at soda cans from 50 yards until I could peg them without a problem.Point being: licensing is unnecessary for guns.
Some logical gun control is necessary, like only being able to purchase 1 handgun a month (to cut down on reselling handguns to criminals). The California assault weapon ban does nothing to stop violence and only makes it harder for responsible people to use weapons. Full auto weapons are already banned on a national level.
>>761666 Full auto weapons are already banned on a national level. You're a fucking idiot. No they aren't you dumbass.
Liberal here. (Actual Liberal)While I believe that it's OK for Americans to own guns, I think some guns shouldn't be availible to citizens. There is no reason for someone to own an assault weapon. Also, gun shows should run background checks before selling guns. That's how the hijackers got their guns.
>>761710>There is no reason for someone to own an assault weapon./grits teethLook. I am in the process of building an AR-15. It LOOKS like the military issue weapon, but can only fire one shot at a time. It is NOT a fucking 'assault weapon.' Lrn2 guns.>Also, gun shows should run background checks before selling guns. That's how the hijackers got their guns. The fuck are you talking about? 'Hijackers'? Who?
>>761710 the hijackersWhat hijackers? WTF are you talking about?>assault weaponDefine the word "Shall" now define the word "infringed". Now ask yourself, why are you against the Bill of Rights? Do you hate Freedom of the Press, too?
>>761710Not bad. It really depends on what you mean by "assault weapon", though. Do you mean an actual selective fire rifle, or "assault weapon" in the ATF sense of the term? The US government's, especially California's, flawed definition means essentially - any rifle that has the appearence of something from a Rambo film.
>>761710>There is no reason for someone to own an assault weapon.Oh hi, you just showed everyone how ignorant you are about guns. Why don't you try learning about them before having an opinion?
>>761648You don't need a license because you took the time to develop the skill necessary to master a firearm.Your average suburbanite who purchases a handgun for home defense won't take it to the range, won't practice with it, and is more likely to shoot themselves or a family member than they are a violent intruder in a home defense situation.
I too am a liberal, well, more of a socialisthoweverIf it's one thing i've noticed growing up in the shit parts of chicago. Police can't/don't help you when you're getting mugged. I've been muged 6 times. I want a gun, I want everyone to be allowed to carry a concealed weapon if they so choose. I also want a background/mental health check. Make it as lengthy to get as a passport if you need to but seriously, gun control doesn't work, sorry. Also neither does affirmative action.
>>761765So what's wrong with outlawing assault weapons? Genuinely curious.
>>761710 Liberal here. (Actual Liberal)inb4 Incendiary Bullets which are Heat Seeking and designed to shoot down jetliners
>>761793*BECAUSE THE LAWMAKERS WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CHUCKLEFUCK SCREAMING ASS RETARDS LIKE YOU AND OUTLAW EVERY LONGARM WITH A MILITARY APPEARANCE**TO BUY AN AUTOMATIC WEAPON YOU NEED TO GET A CLASS III FFL FROM THE FBI. THIS HAS BEEN TRUE SINCE THE FUCKING DEPRESSION***ASSAULT WEAPONS*** HAVE BEEN REGULATED SINCE BEFORE YOU WERE BORN**FUCK*
>>761790Well if number seven happens and you don't get shot, tell us about it ok?
>>761808 THE FUCKING DEPRESSION>implying most of the Federal laws passed during the Depression were Constitutional
>>761822how's the weather in your dad's country club?
I'm a Canadian, and I assume you're talking about USA.In Canada, guns are for hunting. In USA, guns are for opening doors, walking the kids to school, going to church, driving to the store to get beers blah blah blah....
All guns should be illegal, there is no reason to own a gun.
>>761808Ohhh. So anyone can buy an automatic weapon as long as they the proper license for it? I'm good with this. What does getting the license entail and how does it interact with law enforcement? Would a peace officer be able to pull up your information and find that you have a Class 3 FFL?
>>761859Except for self defense.
>>761861 entail A letter from your local Chief Law Enforcement Officer and paying the $200 tax.>a peace officer be able to pull up your informationOnly an ATF agent.
>>761868No, not even self defense; get a kitchen knife.
I like gun control. If I could, I'd just outlaw guns for everyone except the military and the police force, but you can't stop people from smuggling shit, so it'd probably cause problems.
>>759517>Not when they don't know how to use those weapons, and will never use them when it really matters.Guns have a rather simple "point and shoot" interface you know... I mean, even a monkey can use one. >>761793>So what's wrong with outlawing assault weapons? Genuinely curious. The definition of "assault weapon." Basically, there isn't one (at least none that has ever been used in any legislation) that defines what makes one *functionally* different from a hunting rifle.
The only reason to have a gun is A. self defense (however a lot of people who claim to have a gun for that reason bring it out all the fucking time and wave it around like it's a giant cock)and B. hunting
yall can try banning guns if you want; im going to keep minealso lol assault weapons>>761888also the ATF can search your property sans warrant as long as you own the weaponin addition the usual rules of not being crazy or a felon applythe biggest thing is that the manufacture and importation of automatic weapons has been illegal since 1986 so there are no new civilian legal automatic weapons causing the prices to be higher than they should
>>761926Skeet shooting?
Flamethrowers aren't illegal in most of the US.
>>761944RPGs too.
>>761926do you really want to set the precedent of allowing the government to decide what is a good enough reason to do something?
>>761944Neither are tanks.
