I dislike a single payer system because that eliminates competition. When you only have one huge government agency to choose from, you lack vital leverage against a possibly under performing system. There are major problems within the healthcare system, but I don't think a single payer system is the answer.

That being said, I would accept that system if it became a Right through amending the US Constitution. Then it's a legitimate "right", however this will never happen because healthcare isn't a right, so we need to focus on cultural changes within America.

No, these protests won't change anything because

    1) most of these protesters are idiots
    2) most of these protesters are pussies (they get permits to protest lol)
    3) republicans will pretend to change, but in reality remain progressive

The only thing that may change from the protests is the rise of Libertarians in local/state governments, where they have a chance to beat the machine.

Scott Brown has shown National politics hasn't changed...

Yes, since Libertarians and Constitutionalists have lost control and been invaded by neocons, this is pretty much just a puppet show... Proof can be found in the last DC protest before the tax day one.... The group behind it was backed by Steve Forbes and an ex speaker of the house (r) if I remember correctly...

The grassroots is still there and strong, but the conservative army's voice is much louder... Hence, you don't hear a lot of talk about non-interventionism, anti-patriot act, individual freedom, etc....

The problem is 3%-10% of tea party people actually GET it... They understand individual freedoms, they understand how our involvement in foreign affairs creates blowback, etc, etc.

What we could not control is the GOP machine sweeping the movement/revolution into their control...

We are kind of stuck now until the next important political cycle.. People like Kokesh, Schiff and Rand Paul have potential to retake that power from the GOP machine...

What other right forces you to receive financial gain in order to gain access to that right? What other right is provided to you? A right means the government can infringe on whatever is protected. Speech, voting, trial by jury etc.

However, like I said before, if we as a nation accept healthcare as a right, then it must be amended into the Constitution, not just by passing a law. A law isn't a right, it's forcing you to submit to rules and regulations.

    See the difference?

Again a cultural revolution of brotherhood and community must be swept through our nation or our nation will no longer be...

Do you also believe in the boogeyman???

If you were Iran and you saw the US invade Afghanistan and Iraq without little hesitation and have occupied sections of the middle east for decades, wouldn't you want a deterrent as well?

Let Iranians take their country back, let us, as citizens, teach them about freedom and why is good. Let them make the choice. We tried nation building in Iran once already... we suck at it...

Because it means you are more likely to follow "your" party just because, instead of going for what you think works best.

Also, you make this fuckwitted implication that anybody who doesnt agree with your banal worldview must be in the GOP.

Why isn't your party more focused on items related to reforms related to the mechanics of government such as:
    - An independent commission to draw political districts.
    - Presendential Election by Popular Vote
    - Campaign finance reform
    - Term limits for both houses of congress.

These seem like narrow platform measures that could receive widespread support outside the Tea Party while appealing to the minimalist government attitudes within the party.

obviously they have a lot of steam behind them, so it's a hard battle and we aren't doing well to stop it...

What we can do though is hope to pull more individuals away from the herd and expose the GOP as well as Democrats for their corruption...

The problem is we don't get help from the Left. They know their party is just as corrupt but no one is working together to change our system..

Ballot access is worse then communist russia in most states, it's ridiculous.

non major parties can't get access to debates for the most important position in our country.... yet no one cares..

when the system is rigged, you have to ask yourself, what are you doing to help change things?

the country lost its chance for finance reform in 2000 when mccain lost the nomination.

republicans tried to put in term limits during the clinton years but the democrats blocked it.

why isn't the left concerned about redistricting? that's because both machines are corrupt... I don't see any left groups reaching out to right groups to combat this issue... hence we need a cultural revolution. if we can't see our neighbor anything more than being on the other team, we ARE going to fail!

Presidential election by popular vote wouldn't be something I would want and neither should you. Majorities usually rule over the minorities. You could have rednecks and the christian right start pumping out babies so that in 18 years, your vote and state has no fighting chance...

the campaign finance reform and term limits aren't sexy enough to be put on TV... have you been to a tea party before? You might be surprised some of the things we do talk about...

Most of this is due to the GOP entanglement that is currently going on...

No, hence my issue with the firebombing in WW2 and the blatant under reporting of history in regards to our civilian deaths and damage in that time period.

I see other citizens in other countries as people that collectively agree in differences in government. I.e. I wouldn't have problems with a socialist or communist government if their citizens freely choose that type of governance..

I view American lives to be more valuable than the lives of others in other nations. However, I also acknowledge that placing a "value" on life is always a subjective measurement and this does not justify violence to obtain a particular interest. The only moral use of violence is in self defense.

Not religious, but I am spiritual. I don't follow an organized religion, but when I look at the stars I'm amazed how science and "God" are one of the same...

If "God" is all knowing, meaning knowledge, science, imo, brings us closer.

There is no new knowledge that we learn, it's always there, we just become able to see it...

You're misrepresenting my point. I never said that America doesn't try to stay out of conflicts. I said that despite its best efforts, it usually does end up getting involved.

    >>685859
I never said that America should be rebuilding any countries. What I did say was that America should not relinquish its military might so easily. Believe it or not, having American military stationed around the world is probably the best deterrent civilization has in place.
