Well, all the more reason for USA to further their development of their hypersonic planes, so we can just fly over the ashclouds. Or just fly below the clouds.

Anyway, in the long run, we should be able to solve a problem like this. Develop new stuff to counter shit like this. And we're greater than ever.

Here? Possibly. More likely in India and China. Europe already produces little worth having except tourists, and this will deeply wound their tourist industries. People will remember price gouging, no correlated attempts at fixing the transportation, and the general ineffectiveness of the EU gov't.

America may see some benefits in the balance of trade and some of the easings of the euro, but asia will profit.

    Currently due to volcano
*My father is stranded in Germany
*My sister has to send 27 people to their home countries after an international contest. The contestants and trainers were from all around europe, and they are aged 18-20, so the hosts cannot just tell them to look after themselves. However they were staying in Conrad and the extra cost is building up, so they can't just keep them here until planes start going again. Also you have to look after these kids for the duration of their stay because, who knows what'll happen if they decide to have a walk around town by themselves.
*My mother was going to take her students to Moscow and St Petersburg for touristic purposes, their plane is due tomorrow but it is still uncertain whether they will o or, if they do, whether if they can make it back.
*I'm staying at home for the foreseeable future and am on 4chan.

Weather is fine, no ash so far... But I was in the shitty old Sirkeci Main train station, which has only 1 train that goes to Bucharest, I think, every night. So hundreds of tourists from EU are waiting to get on that old and slow train. It is already booked for today and tomorrow though. Buses are also full.
I don't know what will happen, it is much better to be in Germany or France with their super advanced railway system you can go from one place to another fairly easily. In turkey, if you can't take the plane, you are stuck with the shitty old train and bus lines, not even a speed train.

PROTIP: people are getting worked up over a few days of no air travel.

You know the feeling when it's really snowy outside and you hope class is over but then the snow stops falling and it starts to rain and melt the snow? Yeah I've got that feeling. This volcano is starting to become a HUGE disappointment. I want a nuclear winter.

You realise that thousands of flights have been disrupted?

It take at least a week to get things back to normal

A week? I was hoping for a year of no air travel. That'd be REALLY interesting.

On a serious note, this may be the end of the airline industry as we know it. No more short airplane trips between European country to European country, investing all the money that was for airplane subsides towards trains...

I'm actually looking forward to this...

Think about it, the airpline industry are losing a lot of money from this: To the tune of $250 million a day. This situation has been going on for 5 days so if you multiply those five days, the industry has lost $1.25 billion dollars.
