    Reagan and The Fairness Doctrine:
In 1987 the Supreme Court ruled that the fairness doctrine was not mandated by congress and therefor unenforceable by the FCC. In 1987 both houses of Congress voted to make The Fairness Doctrine law and therefor enforceable. Reagan vetoed it and killed it.

Reagan and the metric system: A time line.
1975: The Metric Conversion Act of 1975 (Public Law 94-168) passed by Congress and the U.S. Metric Board is created.
1979: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) requires wine producers and importers to switch to metric.
1980: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) requires distilled spirits producers and importers to switch to metric.
1982: Reagan disbands U.S. Metric Board and fires everyone associated with it.

    Reagan and Gun Control
*Reagan supported and signed a 15-day waiting period when he was governor of California. He then blamed it on the Democrats.
*Reagan supported and signed a law "prohibiting the carrying of loaded firearms on one's person or in a vehicle, in any public place or on any public street." *Reagan supported and signed a ban on the transfer of new manufacture fully automatic firearms while president and blamed it on the Democrats.

The Fairness Doctrine removal had to be one of the most damaging thing he did as president.

This was a bill that demanded equal time to both sides (not just right and far right as it is today) on the major news channels in the states. Once that was dead, so was the other side (on air, at least). This would then open the floodgates for people like Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.

Yeah he definitely meant Afghanistan, not Uzbekistan.
Neo-conservativism got started in the early 70s by a bunch of former Social Democrats who went "Damn, all the shit we did for these black people and they're still rioting? What gives?". They were famously influenced by Leo Strauss, who felt that leaders needed to give populations collective myths to believe in and give the appearance that they believed in these myths too (Christian Evangelicism anybody?). A lot of their ideas gained a foothold in the Republican Party because the editor of the Wall Street Journal in the late 70s was a NeoCon. Reagan, influenced by their ideas although not a NeoCon himself, appointed many, including Rumsfeld, Cheney and Wolfowitz to key positions.
Yes, ending fairness doctrine plus liberal media myth did that.

Carter began the funding to the Mujahadeen and helped fund the Indonesian genocide of East Timor and Khmer Rouge autogenocide. One of the least violent presidents though.
Last Liberal president was Nixon though. He did things like making the EPA and trying to enact Universal Healthcare. Basically he did anything domestically as long as he knew it would get him votes, liberal or conservative, and since people were generally center-left in his era, he did a lot of very liberal things. Foreign policy though, he's responsible for the deaths of millions. That's something that never changes between presidents.

What would the difference be? There would be more liberal radio hosts? I don't think you know what the fairness doctrine is, to be honest

The simple fact of the matter is that the average U.S citizens standard of living is dependent on economic exploitation of developing nations. Until this changes, Imperialism will continue.

    >trying to enact Universal Healthcare
He gave use HMOs that's the exact fucking opposite of Universal Healthcare. Shitsucks the Democrats don't have the spine like they did in the 1960s, we'd have impeached Bush and get shit done.

Pretty sure the fairness doctrine would make opinion radio actually turn into NEWS radio
