the slung objects were weapons instead of cameras you would have though
the same thing as the Apache crew did.
What? No I
wouldn't, if the military shot every ununiformed armed person it say,
then they'd just be killing every PMC and security they came across. The
armed group (2-3 guys at the most) didn't even point their weapons at
the apache, and the rpg in my mind is just wishful thinking by the
gunner so he could engage. Whether they received return fire is
subjective (could be lying or not) but clearly you see in the camera
that all men where dead before they lifted their weapons. As for the
van, I don't think there was any justification for engaging it, it posed
no threat and they clearly had made up their minds on engaging it as
soon as it entered the vicinity.

You
cannot excuse the gunner vocally expressing his wishes for the wounded
guy to pick up a weapon so he could engage, all it does is make him look
eager to kill people who pose no threat (and that guy clearly wasn't
going anywhere at that point), taking that comment, its easier to assume
he wanted to kill those in the van even before he should have confirmed
if they had weapons. And his quip about "right through the windshield" |
