"Thatcher’s Britain" [...] the same journal reported that "up to 2 million British children are suffering ill-health and stunted growth because of malnutrition" as a result of "poverty on a scale not seen since the 1930s." The trend to increasing child health has reversed and childhood diseases that had been controlled are now on the upswing thanks to the (highly selective) "free market gospel" that is much admired by the beneficiaries.

A few months earlier, a lead headline reported "One in three British babies born in poverty," as "child poverty has increased as much as three-fold since Margaret Thatcher was elected." "Dickensian diseases return to haunt today’s Britain," another headline reads, reporting studies concluding that "social conditions in Britain are returning to those of a century ago." Particularly grim are the effects of cutting off gas, electricity, water, and telephones to "a high number of households" as privatization takes its natural course, with a variety of devices that favor "more affluent customers" and amount to a "surcharge on the poor," leading to a "growing gulf in energy between rich and poor," also in water supply and other services. The "savage cuts" in social programs are placing the nation "in the grip of panic about imminent social collapse." But industry and finance are benefiting very nicely from the same policy choices. To top it all off, public spending after 17 years of Thatcherite gospel was the same 42 1/4 percent of GDP that it was when she took over.

Sigh. Think of all the advancements in human society throughout history, im talking about from the Ancient Greeks inventing debates and democracy, the Industrial Revolution, new farming techniques, medicines, electricity, computers, chemistry, physics, ending of slavery, womens rights, gey rights, universal healthcare, social security, all these advancements have each undoubtedly advanced us a little bit more from shit-flinging apes into civilised societies. Now i wonder how many of these advancements were down to open minded liberals, and how many were due to stubborn, negative conservatism. It also astonishes me that for all these advancements in society, some people have ALWAYS been against these changes. And today in the 21st century, conservatives still want to keep us back, to keep us divided - AND PEOPLE ARE STILL STUPID ENOUGH TO LISTEN.

If everyone had listened to conservatives since the dawn of intelligence, Man would still be living in caves and curing the flu with leeches.

Conservatism promotes stagnation and opposes progress, it encourages close mindedness and discourages questioning and hence progress

Thatcher let 10 citizens (one of whom was a Westminister MP by democratic election, a member of her own Parliament) die on hunger strike in 1981, their only request was prisoner of war status, which they plainly were. They werent demanding Britain out of Ireland, nothing like that, they wanted to not be treated the same as rapists or thieves. They were at war with Britain, and she tore up the Geneva convention completely. She changed the law so that thousands of people could be arrested without evidence, tried without a jury, and imprisoned as criminals. Some of them were IRA, however loads were merely Catholic. No evidence, no jury, no trial, 10 years in jail. In 1981 they stood up for their rights as political prisoners, and she let them die one by one, including Bobby Sands MP.

Is it any wonder why the IRA were winning for twenty years

Griffin cant make his mind up about anything. Wants a Britain that supports the working class but also wants to put Tariffs on all goods and increase VAT which would double the price of goods.

Oh and hes leaving before the EUP can investigate his expenses. Rumor around BNP camps is that most of its going to his Croatian beach house retirement and to the election fund for the General election which would get him done for fraud and tax evasion.

Also thatcher sorted out the unions which is more than browns willign to do atm (now theres lots of strikes cause the unions are getting cocky again which will result in buisnesses collapsing and unemployment rising)

    what you mean like nokia?
    or toyota?
    or the whole of germany?

Government subsidies != propping up a failing business, sometimes you have to INVEST in and NURTURE an industry before it can compete globally. now instead of subsidising and investing in an industry that could be profitable in the future, we made everyone involved unemployed and created a generation of children that have never seen their parents go to work. Hardly economically sensible.

Besides, Thatcher and her deregulatory policies landed us in the shit. This financial crisis is a classical economic policy driven crisis. Don't even try to claim that Thatcher was good for the economy.

Actually its all political parties if you are in the MOD, Rescue Services, Police Forces and Crown Prosecution Service

With jobs like teaching and the civil service, its if your political party is legally allowed to stand. There are plenty of UKIP voters and they hate immigrants as much (If not more) than BNP members who also teach and are in the civil service.

The BNP are thick because they wont reword their policy the way the courts want and they cry and sulk every time they lose. It just proves how shit they are at politics as well since you need to know how to contravine the law and then change it once you are in power. Thats the smart way. They are just trying to bludgeon it in and keep crying and sulking when they loose.

How can you trust someone as dimwitted as that with a country?
