I think most Americans get caught up in a culture of labor, in which they don't understand the marketing schemes thrown at them. The desire for objects, and property, becomes so strong that self-advancement becomes synonymous with increase in affluence, and most Americans, as a result, don't spend the time they need to making their brains better.

For instance people consistently complain about immigrants here, but if they really consider themselves so much better than Mexicans, then why are they still competing for the same jobs in unskilled labor? And if the Mexicans are better for unskilled labor than Americans, why shouldn't we invite them into the country?

As someone who grew up moving around the world, but who settled in the South of the United States, I can tell you, there are a lot of really smart people here. But one of the things that you learn in America is that when you're smart, it's best to keep your mouth shut.

To me, it seems yanks tend to be quite stuck on principles on practical matters. The highly developed RAF was able to smack down the Luftwaffe because the German long-range bombers weren't very maneuverable, and once a bomber got to a certain range, it was east to tell that a few fighters would be able to easily dispatch it.
